Lighting: chlorophyll activity

The Lighting section of the grow guide includes a graph depictingchlorophyll activity relative to color temperature.

This graph is not particularly useful because correlated color temperature does not provide information about the spectral power distribution of flourescent or HID lamps. Lamps having different spectral power distributions can be rated at the same correlated color temperature.

Graphs of plant pigment absorption spectra and the photosynthetic response curve would be more informative.

Something like this might be handy I think we should have a few more graphs.

Right then.

I agree, the graph relateing color temp to chlorophyl activity is bunk.

What we need is someone motivated and well versed to write up an explanation of whats really going on, in a way that is easy to understand. and somebody good with graphics to customize a graph or two to illustrate it. I will help, but I am neither an author nor graphix guy.

The graph Fillabong brought with him is good, but we can do with out the gamma rays and microwaves and such. IMHO

The lumen, I am afraid, is going to be harder to get rid of. No matter how wrong it is for what we are interested in.

toke it easy

I could probably do something if nobody else wants to do it, but frankly I'm still trying to figure out why Sunmaster and EYE are competing for the very lucrative algae and cyanobacteria market.

If you (or anyone) wants to make up a few more graphs. I'd be happy to post them in the GG, as long as they are correct.

...But i'm sticking with my lm/sf recommendations
