I just germinated about 20 seeds and now have them in potting soil. How much moisture or how wet should they be. I use a spray bottle but would like to know how much water I should be using.

so you took 20 seeds and threw them in the same pot, or are they in individual small pots, what i usually do after they germinate, is put them under the soil, and then i cover the top with saran wrap, i poke a couple holes in it, and i dont take the plastic wrap off the top of the pot until i see the sprout poking through, dont go crazy with the water bottle, everyones first mistake is to drench them, just keep it really humid and warm, and you will be straight, i hope that helps.

Try and keep the soil good and moist, feeding from the bottom up is a sure way to know that you're soil is evenly watered.

Hey Franco - Welcome to GC.com

Just today I planted seeds. Your question was about how wet, right?

Once the seeds are planted in a mix that is 50% perlite so I can be assured of good fast drainage, I water them thouroughly. Then I do nothing until I see that the soil is dry. I don't cover the pots and each seed gets it's own pot.

I use the mister to water after that first deep watering. I use plastic pots to start out and they don't dry out so fast, especially when there is no plant or root mass to make use of it.

Over watering is the single most common loss of seedlings.

Peace-
OD
