![]() | Got a quick question for you guys... On July 20, 2000 I found out that my mom (of all people) decided to plant a seed she stole from my roommate Low and behold, the seed sprouted and the seedling is doing unbelievably strong. I've taken over and I'm now feeding it with a diluted fert mix of Miracle Grow Patio (1/4 tsp to 1 gal.) My question involves transplanting to a larger pot with better soil mix. Currently it's in a small pot (not sure what size exactly) but I'd like to move it to a 1 gal or 2 gal pot with good potting soil. What are your best recommendations for transplanting... including best process, good potting soil, and what I should do after I transplant so the plant doesn't go into shock or whatever...Talk to you later, doob | ||

| You wanna transplant a plant or a kidney? A good bag of potting soil, some root and bloom type fert high that's in phosphorus and some water is all you need. The best information ever stumbled upon was KIS ... Keep It Simple. Take it outta da pot... flip it over while holding your hand firmly against the soil. Place it in the center of the new pot with some good potting soil. Good soil doesn't compact too easily and provides aeration and moisture retention. In addition it will have the proper pH and a decent ion exchange capacity. Some vitamin is said to reduce transplant shock I wanna say it's B-12, either way most shock preventers are auxin based hormones like NAA or IBA "SuperThrive is a common NAA transplant shock reducer. Unless you really disturb the roots I don't see the need for hormones. A fert high in phos will also help newly potted plants take root and considering the time of year.. switching to a high *-P-* bloom fert won't do any harm. Don't neglect to water it after the trans plant. | ||
