question about "purple widow"
permalink

Heres the link to the page i was reading about this strain - Purple widow seeds - white widow crossed with purple power

now it says long harvest, july - oct.

Now my question is, in my area we dont get the 12 to 12 hr light cycle until the end of aug. to the beginning of sep.

are they saying this plant will still start flowering in july for me even though its not the 12 to 12 hr cycle?

12 12 hour cycle is not a part of an outdoor growers vocabulary! 12 12 is just a common schedule used indoors for the flowering of any plant. a plant, DOES NOT need 12 complete hours of darkness. i have no idea what the mean by harvest july-end of october? i do no that july is when a lot of people plant though? it could just be a misprint. the majority of people find their plants start flowering end of july/early august.

Just grow it like you would normally.
I like to plant 1 month before spring, and then let it grow from there, but I live in a SUPER moderate climate (second most moderate in the world.) so it is easy for me, I can even grow in winter.

If your having concerns about the length of your grow season then the best bet would be to get an early finishing strain...come late season and the frost is on its way the last thing you want is a premature crop that still needs 4 more weeks of flowering...being a guerllia grower myself i lean towards the early finishers for one simple fact...your far less likey to get busted if you harvest your plants a month earlier then if u went with the high yeilding late finishing strain...your best bet woul be to find a "auto flowering" strain so you don't have to worry about how long your season isjust my

You've been given some good advice here, but to answer your question....your plant (or most plants I've seen) will flower with 14 hrs of light. I've had plants start flowering in July and be done in Sept. I also have some plants....Purple kush.... that started flowering in late July and weren't done until early December.. That same strain is an 8 week flowering strain when i grow it indoors.
I don't know what area your in, but in my are I have the best luck growing my plants indoors and letting them veg till about the begining of August, then putting them outside. Although I did pretty good last spring putting them out on March 1st(already vegged about 2 feet tall) They were by the middle or end of May. I also live in one of the most temperate climates in the world.
The best place I've seen to grow is near the equator. The day never gets much longer than 12 hrs and it seems as if the Earth is closer to the Sun. There I could put out a clone in the beginning of June and it would immeadiately flower up and be done by the 1st week of August. Talk about a year round growing season.. Can't beat that! Sorry, I'm getting off topic here.
