so whats better? one nice big plant. or a bunch of little guys.

Id go for the big plant at this somewhat late date. The plant may really take off once you sink her in the ground and in a months time you can safely take a ton of clones, say around early July. You might be able to accelerate those cuttings when the time comes indoors for some small plants late into the season.

Start tieing or braceing the young plant in as many directions horizontal once the time is right and it will reward you with a wide plant with multiple growth tips. Try your luck at the fim method. It doesnt always produce the 4-6 new growth sites but the interior lateral branchs will really start to develop and bush out in different directions over the course of a few months. Those have to be braced or tied down as well early on. Trust me on this one ive had great results with very large yielding plants doing this.

What state are you in? When does it frost there? In my area(SOCAL), if it were me, I'd clone them now and get the cutting out by june 1st. Your momma will be extra bushy and you'll have a bunch of guaranteed females to back her up in case she takes a shit on you.

I just realized I called out to swordfish by mistake. thanks for the advice.

Crazytrain

I actually live in British Columbia. the grow season ends around october because it gets too wet, I dont think it frosts until November.

other thing would be that I've never actually cloned myself. understand the process, but havn't tried my hand at it. would I be likely to mess it up first time around? im suprised you think i could take a cutting and have it out by june first. thought it would take longe.r

Just a quick post before I get in the hot tub and soak my knees in Epsom salt, LOL. Put out my first batch of GG plants tonight. 2 Jamaicans and 5 White Russian x Texada Timewarp, all originally from seed, and all former mothers, topped several time for clones.

(actually morning now, damn internet/satellite link/site/something was squirrelly last night, wouldn't let me upload pics)

What a difference, last year I carried out 8 little plants at a time, in 32 oz cups, and no soil, just used native, and dipped my water from the swamp. This year they are in 1 gallon pots, brought 5 gallons of water with fish emulsion, 4-1-2, EC 1.2. Under the plants in the wheelbarrow is approximately 14 gallons of OF FF soil, added a coffee can each of vermiculite and perlite, and half a can or so of bat guano from the barn.

The stealthmobile, ready to go.

And ancillary accessories, of course, ready to go also-

Tonight I'll put out the other 7, 3 Cotton Candy, 3 Purple Urkle, and my Rosetta Stone mom, after taking some clones from her. Mosquitoes weren't bad yet, by midsummer you almost need a respirator out there, to keep from breathing them in.

Man, it's really not the same without Sadie along to take the point.

Well I dont know about you guys but im tired of fussing about with young starts and glad to done with that phase of the grow. I have six small plants that are very slow comeing up from some seeds I recently got from a club. Same soil and conditions but they are very small and slow to respond and grow big. Almost want to toss them but will keep them around in pots I suppose.

These two plants were from the same seed stock I grew a monster plant with back a few years ago. Unlike pure indicas these two will have the capacity to get quite large and noticeable. I will be tieing them down so they stay below 14ft.

Okay folks, think I'm going to disappear from the online scene until late summer/autumn when harvest is approaching, I hope! Man, a helicopter could really ruin things. As could a nosy forestry worker stumbling upon things. Or a ripper. Or mold.
So good luck this year. I'll look forward to seeing photos of harvest.
Here are some parting photos. Plants about to be put in a hole in the ground tonight.
See ya all in the sunny happy days of fall!
