Go for it man....nothing to lose.

I am in a worse zone than you, 4B, and I am going to set out a few more clones.
Some of the Amstel x Mitey Mite i put out at first of June is flowering already...(only 12 to 18 inches tall)...oh well.
I plan on putting another 10 out as they will get at least 4 to 5 weeks more of Veg...and shhould do fine. If you can find yourself some clones that are already 3 or 4 weeks old you will be good to go.

As illegal said you will get less yield....but I have had late starts before with some strains and still got a decent harvest.

Get a good spot, use decent soil mix such as FF, dig nice wide and deep holes,do a little LST and you will not regret it.

I like to think a positive attitude gets you half way there

The experience will also help for future grows when you can start on time

Let us know how you make out.

Here's a few shots from this morning. Im going to ease up on the training on a couple of these because their already spread pretty wide and remaining very short. The tallest plant in my garden is around 36".

I am also fairly certain that all these plants are females as well, knock on wood. I am very happy with how bushy they are becoming and appear to be staying short, which is to my likeing.

Mostly a water only diet and been useing "Marine Cusine" from FF as a dry fert I topdressed around the base of the plants several weeks ago. I am debating useing FF Grow Big mixed in my watering can for their next feeding or omiting that and feeding with another application of "Marine Cusine" I also distributed a generous amount of worm castings into the soil a while back as well. Dont forget to add your Jersey Greensand about now to really kick it up a notch. I work kelp meal and greensand togeather as a topdressing. It will help later on dureing flowering.

Check out the tomatoe cages on both sides of this plant that are pulled down to the ground.

This ones the widest and the shortest but im most immpressed with its ability to grow like a hedge.

Lots of growth sites

Hope you enjoy the photos, just sitting around with a toothache and had to take some pain pills because the dentist is three days away for now.

The new growth is not screaming with pre-flowers nor or there signs of males. Im going to cross my fingers that five of the seven grounded plants are girls but I dont think I will really know for sure until the end of the month.

I have some huge plants in containers that I dont have a clue what sex they will be. I think they are males because the ones I thought showed evidence of pre-flowers I planted in the ground for bigger yield purposes than keeping in pots. Its a little frustrating having 6-8 large containered plants that are chest high and still not showing but my males tend to show late, like in August, even if they are started in April. Indoor guys seem to find out the males in 6 weeks. Wish it were that easy spotting them early outdoors.
Just put out female plants? Cloning is your friend..

Oh and freaking beautiful garden by the way.. Wish I had somewhere I could do something like that.

Here is a little update on my outdoor grow. Everything is lookin pretty good so far, the tallest one is about 5 1/2 feet and the shortest is about 3 foot and still no signs of sex. The only thing that is really worrying me right now is these spots on the leaves, anybody have any idea what this is, nutrient problem or bug problem. I have noticed a few of the leaves have been munched on by somethin.

They are planted in the ground and I didn't add any other soil, I just dug a hole and put em in and they seem to doin pretty good. Last visit 2 weeks ago the tallest was about up to my chest, this visit the tallest was about up to my nose. So yea, they sure are growin like a WEED!

Lookin fine Ganja

You got thripps buddy, IMO.

Check out the Nursery thread for the cure....Spinosad....Monterey Garden Insect Spray...courtesy of Mr. Buzz....I had same problem, although not as serious as you....look for little red bugs....eggs are on the underside....I trimmed all my bad leaves, then sprayed....seem to be recovering although they are very persistent little buggers...

Nugthug....lets see ya grow another monster this year like Sword posted!!

Well, thought I would do a little updating on my grow.

It has not been a good start at all to this years grow....cold damp spring, and summer has not been any better...very little sun, and above average rainfall.

Still having real battles with insects and garden pests...major thrips infestations and slugs have been devastating...even with pellets applied every week or so...may have to resort to copper if it keeps up.

Anyways, despite the challenges I am pleased with progress to date. I am growing 11 or so different strains and that is a handful as well.

Switched to LST this year and IMO is helping a lot with growth.

group-thread-outdoors-2009-sany0070dc.jpg

Overall "garden" view, by fall I hope that there will be tunnels between the plants...as the LST is really spreading out the plants....should have planted at 10 feet on center instead of 8 LOL...

group-thread-outdoors-2009-sany0071.jpg
"chocolate chunk cross, LST did wonders, 3.5 feet tall, 4.5 feet diameter

group-thread-outdoors-2009-sany0075.jpg
Kali x chunk cross just transplanted, no LST yet, 4.5 feet tall

group-thread-outdoors-2009-sany0087.jpg
This is Amstel Freize cross, no legs but really bushy and healthy, 1.5 feet tall...this is un trimmed girl
group-thread-outdoors-2009-sany0089.jpg
Side view of AFF, so bushy!!

group-thread-outdoors-2009-sany0101.jpg

Here is an AFF that i did a major trimjob to open up and encourage some legs...seems to be working.

Anyways....all thing considered i should not be complaining....have not lost any plants yet and nursed several sick girls back to good health.

I am going to let these guys strecth for another week and then one more round of LST....still 4 to 5 weeks of veg left

Hope Mother Nature is behaving better for you other Outdoor growers this year!!
