hey everyone, I just signed up for this forum today and have been doing a lot of reading, including the grow guide but I am still at a loss about where to start. I want to do my first grow and I have seeds lined up but I will be doing an outdoor/forest grow and while I have gotten a lot of great info from the forums and guides, my main concern right now is what to actually do to get started. I dont know if I have to start my plants inside or if I can plant the seeds right into the ground, since its going to be an outside grow I cant do the 24/7 light that the guide calls for and I dont know when I should start planting either. I am in the middle of B.C so its still early spring here and we get some pretty cool nights right now but I dont want to miss the window to get things started. any info or help you can offer would be great and I am sorry if these questions have been answered before but I couldnt find anything about this stuff while surfing the forums.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | For seeds, it's about the right time to get them out. I suggest that the seed planters check the 6-10 day weather forecasts and plant your seeds on the day BEFORE the next rain. This will give the seed plenty of water for a day and when the weather clears, the Sun will shine and the seeds will sprout. When planting, 1/8 to 1/4 inch under the top soil will give the seed plenty of protection. This time of year, you can simply scrape your foot along the ground to clear the area of last summer's leaves and debris. An area 3x3 feet will do for up to 9 plants, but the lower portions of the plants at this distance will be crowded. The tops should remain open to greater amounts of light. Once done, remove any unwanted plants from the spot. If you forgot to bring a pocket knife, find a small thin and strong stick and score the Earth to about 1/4 inch. I used a golf tee in a cross-hatch pattern. I planted one seed at a time and covered each seed with a protective layer of soil, trying to get each plant enough space for solid light coverage. I then topped it of with water from my own drinking stash. Last week I planted some seeds and it rained the next 2 days. The sun came out today and the next 5 days will range in the 60's, 70's, and even a day in the 80's. I am pleased with how it has turned out so far. I feel like I planted my seeds at the right time knowing that the seeds would be well taken care of for the first several days. Following some of these ideas will, A. Help you quickly and effectively clear a small area of ground B. Help keep the area undetected by keeping it small C. Ensure that you are planting in favorable conditions D. Guarentee a large amount of water getting to your newly planted seeds E. To plant seeds deep enough to protect them from elements F. Plant seeds shallow enough to receive heat from the sun Take care. Be safe.
