How are you preparing for a season of rain? My spot is very low lying ground and last year the spot flooded once, the rain brought mold and I was wondering what techniques all of yall are using to prepare???

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I might try to build your site up some with dirt, you know so it is higher that the surrounding ground. it would help for your plants stalk and top roots to not be drowned in water for days during a flood. hmm maybe also if possible try to find a place that wont flood. just my ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Google French drains, or Curtain drains. 4" corrigated (sp) pipe is cheap and you don't need much to get the water away from your spot. Also digging holes and filling them with gravel around the perimeter help give the water a place to sit until absorbed by soil or air. There are a million ways, just try to direct it away from your spot.

Put them in your pack and make sandbags where the most offending areas are to divert the runoff. It wouldnt be much trouble to fill a dozen or so bags with the local dirt and create a levy. OOPS that was already suggested

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | How much flooding are we talkin here? a couple inches to 12? If its minor flooding dig drainage holes and raise the ground leval where your planting ( as already suggested) If its Major flooding 8inches+, i would go with sandbags around your plants and raised beds of dirt.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | My area flooded in 2007 and I have since moved up the hill, above the flooding level. We are getting tons of rain. I believe all the planting I have done was a waste. There's been maybe two nice "growing" days, and rain nightly and on several days since I planted seeds. Next week end will two weeks since I planted. My seeds only take 3 days to pop inside. I will be surprised if any seedlings had enough good weather to sprout. If there is anything, I will be pleased. My other areas, 732, 741 and 742 will be checked in two weeks. Same deal as above. It's been unbelievablely rainy...

![]() | have checked out the french drain idea and am considering it. Thanks for all the input. Yes she is a good spot ![]() Last year had a flood near the end of the season which caused major losses, I am wondering if the drain will take care of it all ... I may post back in a week with some picture updates of the drain I created ![]()
