![]() | So I have a bit of questions to ask about the whole outdoor growing process. Firstly I live in the north east US. Mass/Maine area. So I have a few questions that need answering. 1. What type of seeds? I'm thinking about early misty featured onthis site - Buy outdoor marijuana seeds and order outdoor cannabis seeds 2. How much sun do they need? I have numerous spots I'm thinking about, a feild behind my house, the woods next to my house, and lastly, my roof on the back of my house. 3. What do I need supply wise? Size pots, type of soil, etc. Those are it for now, I'll add more when I think about this more, I'm very exciting at the moment haha thanks Last edited by Sbuck; 05-18-2009 at 06:29 PM.. http://www.gardenscure.com/420/growi...oor-links.html go to that URL and click the links Ill give you some generic info but please read those links and read through the forum posts and you will receive some great information. 1. Seeds - whatever strain you decide you like that is recommended for outdoor grow. take in consideration flower time, average yield, and the indica/sativa ratio. do a search for seedbanks and reviews. Educate yourself on the different strains to make the best decision for your needs.. 2. Sun - Plants will grow with any amount of sunlight, but for best results shoot for at least 5 hours direct sunlight. They will thrive in full sun all day, given they get enough water. 3. Supplies - Depends on how much you wish to invest in your grow, and what you would like your end result to look like. You could grow with nothing but a bag seed and your backyard dirt for free. If growing in pots outdoor, i would say use between 5 and 30 gallon containers. Starting at this time in the northeast I would say 5-10 gallons would be fine. Growing in ground, dig a hole, amend with some good dirt of your choice, and put your plant in that. You could spend days reading up on training techniques, which soil to use, etc. by just clicking through the forum. Just remember its a plant, plant the seed, water, give it sun and it will grow. Anything beyond that is strictly up to how you want to do it. Other optional supplies could include PH testers, tomato cages, fertilizers, and on and on. Check out those links, and good luck growing. P.S. - I would not grow on your roof for security reasons, and not in the woods unless you want a stretched out plant with few buds.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | if you can get BALES of sunshine mix or pro mix, they are the outdoor growers dream. made bales big because they are not bags. about 30 bucks will get you 60-70 gallons of soil.this soil does NOT contain nutrients though. so liquid or dry organic nutrients should be used. id suggest planting in ground rather than buckets. usually less watering, and unlimited room for the roots. 30 dollars for the pro mix, another 30 for some bat guano, and all you will need is a shovel and water.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | yep, i am learning that in the ground really is the way to go. buckets work fine if you have time to tend to them often, but like in my case it will take a few seasons of dealing with problems like transplanting and having to water everyday, just to say to yourself "damn I shoulda just planted in the ground." on the other hand, if your ever gonna have to move them, your SOL in the ground. That and being able to have more control over every aspect of growing are the main upsides, in my opinion, to container growing. you very well may have an outstanding turnout, but more than likely being your first year it is gonna be more of a learning experience than anything. So don't expect too much. And just be that much more happy if you do get a harvest. I'm a perfectionist and I didnt harvest a bud till my 3rd year. It's hard to prepare for rippers ![]()

![]() | Thanks for all the feedback! Another thing that came to mind, since its my ffirst year growing, should I just pick the seeds out of what I buy? I'm buying a lot of mids for a mate so I plan just taking seeds from that so free seeds and I can start to get the hang of it.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | i almost always grow with seeds out of real good pot that buddies have. we call that bagseed here. mainly for the fact that on a year to year basis im not positive whether i will be able to finish a grow or not, i have to move often for my job. if you really are gonna put time into your grow, and you want the best MJ possible, then yes you should buy seeds. if you just wanna learn the grow process, and would just be happy to harvest anything at all, then just grow bagseed. i can assure you that if done right, and you took seeds from some at least decent pot, that you will be very happy with the results. other than actual THC content, you would probably think it was some sort of kind bud if you looked at a fresh nicely grown bag seed bud. because you have the ability to control the grow, and harvest when the buds are at perfect ripeness. Bought seeds = you know exactly what your getting, and can ask strain related questions. Bag seeds = free, usually bred for mass harvests, great for starters. ![]() | Alright thanks so much Be so Kind. Helped a lot for the choice making. I think I'll try a lot of different method with bagseed with spots, light, etc etc for where I live. I also want to try groing inside but the problem is, I live with my parents (I'm still in highschool haha) so the whole where to do it may be difficult. My sister used to have an exotic frog so do you think that the light from that will be good? Or will I need a new bulb/light fixture. I'm thinking the purpose of that light was more heat then light, if that makes sense.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Since people have already said supplies. I have to say 1 thing... Don't grow in your back yard or in huge open fields. They are really easy to spot from the air. Growing on your roof....DUMB.. Even if the area is flat. If someone drives near your house they will see a 2 feet+ plant on your roof, Any helicopter will see it flying over inspecting what's below it. Wind blows a little to hard and plant goes flying all over the ground, good buy all the work you put into it. I suggest in a wooded area that gets about 6+hours of sunlight aday. Edit: Alot if it is your first grow. I would recommend against buying seeds since you are real prone to making errors. Start off with some bag seed and when you get the jist of how to grow since you WILL make some mistakes, then you can go off and buy seeds and grow like a pro. I'm not saying you shouldn't buy seeds, I just recommend against it so you don't waste and loose $35 seeds due to some accident... Someone finds your plant(you know not to plant there anymore), Mess up planting/overwatering etc. There's tons of mistakes you can make.
