Cool Fertilizing, topping, tying!???
permalink

I'm about to start my first grow outside, I have everything planned and ready to go.

I was just wondering about a couple of questions as far as terminology and methods go:

1. What is meant by topping and when and what does it do?

2. I have a mixutre of soil down to start with (cow manure < 10%, black soil, perlite) but I was just wondering how and when to fertilize?

3. And what's all this tying the plants down for?

If you guys could help me to clear some of this up for me, it would really help.

TANK U!

pretend your in school and study. only this time you care about what your learning about.

topping is a method used to get the plant to grow wider and bushier, rather than thin and tall.

you can get dry powdered nutrients to feed your plants. some may atract animals though. or you can get liquid nutrients and mix with the water. read up on the plant nutrient needs and all that.

not sure what you mean by number 3?

Tying down plants is for low stress training, an excellent method of increasing yield and shortening your plant at the same time.

Topping plants it cutting up a few nodes(leaf sets) after a few weeks into growth. Cut at a 45 degree angle. This will cause the stem you cut to branch off into 2 seperate stems.

If the grown plant would have been 6 feet.. topping the main stem will make it grow 2 stems that are 3 feet. etc you can continually do this, just not to much because the plant has to grow back where you cut it
The cuttings can also be used to make clones via cloning powder which can be bought at walmart etc or online. A clone is an exact copy of the plant you took the cutting from. If you take a cutting from a female plant then the clone will be female.

you can top your plant at any time during vegetative growth that you would like

If the grown plant would have been 6 feet.. topping the main stem will make it grow 2 stems that are 3 feet.not true, growth factors like that are affected by strain, and when/where you top the plant etc you can continually do this, just not to much because the plant has to grow back where you cut it
The cuttings can also be used to make clones via cloning powder (recommended but optional) which can be bought at walmart etc or online. A clone is an exact copy of the plant you took the cutting from. If you take a cutting from a female plant then the clone will be female.
