O.k I am new to this forum But I have a good many questions. Please take a minute to read through and answer some it would help me out a lot. I just wanted to do a little experiment. I am growing it in a pot with regular store bought soil they have sprouted. But the stem is all messed up. It keeps growing more leaves what can I do to strengthen the stem ? Also what can I do to get the stem straight again. I have been taking it out in the sun during the day bringing it in at night. I have some fertilizer how do I put it on ? How can I dissolve it ? what are some good fertilizers that decrease acid in the soil ? Is pennegreen fertilizer a good one ? What should I do if it`s a male ? if it is can it grow buds can you smoke the males ? do males grows seeds ? can you germinate the seeds if the do grow them ?

Hmm I think thats about it for now I will probably have more questions later.

What kind of soil, if miracle grow then throw it out imo, since miracle grow is not good for marijuana plants.
When plants grow, they will grow towards there light source, this is called photo-tropism.
So if the light is off to the side it will grow crooked.
When vegging plants try to keep them outside all the time (You veg inside under a light but do not constantly change their environment), they need a good 14-16 hours of sunlight when in the vegging stage. Changing their environment often can cause them stress. For vegging get a weak fertilizer, one with a 2-1-1 or 5-1-1 nitrogen ratio. You don't actually need to use fertilizer until you see the leaves near the bottom of the plant turn yellow. This means they are hungry. You can get cheap fertilizer that works for vegging at home depot for $8 bucks. Alaska Fish Fertilizer. Or you can buy grow big stuff online.
If the plant is a male, most people throw them away, males can not grow bud and I think they do produce a VERY SMALL amount of THC, not worth saving a whole plant in risk of pollinating the female plants.

Only female plants produce seeds and they ONLY produce seeds if pollinated. You do not want this normally. When a female has to produce seeds after getting pollinated it doesn't put all of its energy toward producing THC and it will hinder the quality of your bud lowering your THC percentage. For this reason most people keep males AWAY from their other plants, when they find them they normally just trash them.

Ditto here! Not that all of us didnt have to ask all those same questions at some point but they are all basic "need to know" things. Do a little reading around here and gather what you will need to get a good start on things.
As for the wobbly plants you got... they are probably too far away from whatever light you are using (if any) or they arent in direct sun and dont have any breeze on them. All of which they need to not stretch and get lanky and fall over.
Again, poke around ther garden here. There is so much info to be taken in here i highly doubt anyone could ever absorb it all.
BTW, welcome to the comunity man...

Well at least remember... when people first start wanting to grow for their first time, they are eager to get started.

For most people they find out they get information better when they ask a question in their own words and it gets answered in retrospect to what they said. That's how I used to be... When I didn't even know how to put the seed in the dirt correctly after germing. I would look at other threads and info on it but these growing terms I had never heard before would come up and I would be like wtf???

So yeah... I can understand this guy asking before he actually did lots of research.

thers nothing wrong with questions... its just people need to learn the basics first. if they dont know the basics, then the things we tell them make no sense.

nobody here gets paid to help out others. and not too many people want to write a 2 hour post on growing. especially considering the basics plus more are in the grow faq in the menu bar.

you never learn by not asking questions. but the questions have been asked. plenty. by the time you get 10 different responces, you could usually find 30 just by searching.

.
I have no issue with long posts offering what bit of knowledge i have, but i will agree that it makes it alot easier to have somone know the basics before trying to explain how to avoid/counteract a problem.
I been going through this with my brother in law and my sister (his wife). He has glaucoma and recently took to medical cultivation under Maint state law. He is eager to plant seeds and reap harvests but im having a hard time explainin to him that there is more to plucking QUALITY buds than just dropping crappy seeds into crappy dirt under crappy conidtions. Not to mention the issue of simply explaining that ther are male and female MJ plants. Questions are deffinately a necessity, but so are basic growing skills. I.E. germination, soil, male vs. female plants, photoperiods.... Its just nice to have somone that is eager to reasonably edjucate themselves before trying to help them into serious growing. In my honest opinion the majority of ppl that have a true love for this plant and its medical capabilities are going to do a touch of looking before diving into somthing they arentsure of.
I love cannabis! Not just smoking it but growing it. I have a severe panic disorder and suffer from PTSD. I have been asigned so many seratonin inhibiting drugs that dont work that it makes me STILL wonder why Marijuana hasnt been legalized. Its the only thing i have foudn to date that levels out my anxiety and overactive thinking.
Kudos to ANYONE whos interested in cultivation! The more ppl the better i think. Im not in this for money so im not worried for the closure of my market. I think its going to take alot of backyard/underground grows to finally prove our point to uncle sam that this plant turlly is beneficial to some of us.
Ill offer up whatever input i have to anyone that asks. All i request is that they get a little basic info so that im able to give the best advice possible.
THAT was my 2 hr post...

its funny, everyone here who has been answering q's sooner or later snaps a bit and tells people to read *me too* but the funny part is that theyve just been doing the basics too long and too much. and the basics are so basic now, that its basically boring to answer them now.

i personally have just laid back and stop answering those basic q's for the most part, realising there are plenty of newer guys here now, that have learned the basics enough and want to share, sooner or later they will pop too and tell people to.

read!

lol that said, there is an excellent faq here, but this is a forum after all, not a library.

the process of disillusionment that leads to a retreat from stupid questions,

these stupid questions however, are a very clever attempt to tap into this, 'do some reading' angst.

people should space their posts Treadwell,

the ghost has 'punked' you again Illegal Seed.

Speaking of which, best wishes to you,

this is a far funnier approach than those hard to read rants. LOL nigel
