LMAO. It looks like ckpland is also a cali grower. I swear you guys have the best climate on earth for growing. I mean look at those shrubs in the pics. Even those look to be 15 feet high. I hope to visit the Emerald Triangle again soon. Eureka is such a beautiful place. The college there would be nice cept it's only a junior college and I already have my assoc. otherwise I'd be goin there lol.. It's surrounded by redwoods tho. I love that whole area.

My outdoor girl is looking pretty nutrient deficient. Gave her some MG Rose Food today.. Hoping that may help out. I should probably get back out there with some worm castings and other goodies to top dress on the soil all around her, since she hasn't even started to flower yet!

She was also getting too tall for the area so I decided to do some lst.

Id blackball the rosefood random.

The N-P-K ratios are right in alot of them but they are pretty acidic from what i understand.

Your plants might not be able to absorb what your putting into the soil.

Does 1 cup of Big Bloom in 5 gal of water count as a tea? Hope it does, because making compost teas is bothersome when they invented BB. Mine will get a total of around 20 gal of watering today with this amount mixed in for a feeding. Temps in the high 90's all week is causeing watering every three days. Plain water last time, so it's time for a feeding.
Can I also apply Open Sesame at the same time as the Big Bloom feeding by mixing it in with the BB, or should I hold off and apply the OS seperatly on another occasion? Never used the stuff and am afraid of overdoing it.
I dont mean to mix the OS with the BB, just add them seperatly to the water for the soil drench?

What if I just go back and topdress with castings and guano? That would be similar to a tea but better for the long run, right?

Things are looking pretty down for my one pound contestant.

I went against my better judgement and gave her another round of LST yesterday.

I tied as tight as i dared, however, (stupidly) didnt take into account enough give on my lines for wind and thus ended up damaging her... BAD..

Wind picked up really intense last night and when i went to check on her this morning i walked into what to me was a bloodbath.

One branch kinked over past 90deg, and the main stalk where the plant V`s at the top.... *ugh* split... lengthwise about 5 inches.

Nothing less than "wishboned" could describe it.

Leaves are all still perky. She must have an awfully strong root system, but now i have to worry what this kind of stress will do to her.

Ive never come that close to destroying a plant before. I have to guess that even if she pulls through this wont be good in terms of yeild or the risk of hermaphrodism.

I squeezed the stalk back together as tight as i could and wrapped it tightly with electrical tape to (hopfully) allow her a chance to heal her wound.

Pretty upset with myself at the moment. Im hoping that im still in the running with this plant but i may have to respectfully bow out of our little grow off if she doesnt bounce back.

Sorry to hear of your wind problems Treadwell, my area gets some fierce winds in October, usually near the end of the month when you are hoping for a few more hot days. We get what's called the Santa Anas. I have seen bud damage from continuous 40-50 mile wind storms that can last days that time of year. The wind literally strips the trich's right off the bud and your buds are all growing sideways.
Had to harvest a week sooner than I would have liked in the third week of October. Always wanted to stretch it longer but the wind not the frosts is what usually causes me to harvest outdoors anyway.

I suspended LST activity some time back when it was evident that size wasnt going to be a consideration. I had envisioned a repeat performance of some very large plants appearing but this has not been the case.

While prepping my holes last spring I was only able to get down a couple of feet before I was stopped by large boulders underground. It was tough work digging six decent holes. Had I been able to blast deeper with my wrecking bar and madox the plants would be much larger now from benefit of the extra soil and root space.

I am somewhat enjoying the stealth aspects of this current crop as I feel they will finish at 5-6 feet and not be a security consideration like some of the monsters I have encountered in the past that had unfetered root zone.

In the comeing winter I do plan on renting a chipping hammer to enhance these same holes much deeper and wider for the next go around.

Random, sounds like a good idea to topdress with some worm castings about now if you got them.

swordfish what you need to do is invest in one of those huge trimming machines lol. i can't imagine how long it'd take to trim all that. I usually just have 2 friends help but even with them it's a bitch.
