Treadwall i salute you, some People think that a gps is a tool that garentees you never to get lost. Sad thing is they require batteries and a compass and a map will never fail you.

GPS never hurt though

As a grower and a geo cacher, It has been my impression that geochaches have been placed in an area that is usually unique. If you are growing near something that is different enough to draw people to, then you should change up your tactics. Most geocahes are just off a trail well used by people. So, again if you are planting that close to something, you might want to rethink things. I wonder do you hunt? well the hunters are the pariah of growers as well why are you not complaining about them. Any way Geocahing is great fun for many people and it will be here I think to stay. By the way there are over 800,000 geocahes listed world wide.
It would help you to invest a hundred dollars in a GPS get the coordinates of your grow site and just see what will be near you.
Thanks OHG

The deer made it to that plot before the geocachers, my plot is/was not anywhere near a public trail where the geocachers play by their own set of rules. Im sure my area could be stumbled upon without alot of fanfare or a great difficulty of trouble. Good thing for me is I kept some plants somewhere else while the deer/rodents/whatever gobbled up a dozen plants. I wont be useing that area again because I dont enjoy growing plants in cages anyways which would be the only way to get the job done. I started out with individual hardware cloth cages to repel the rabbits. When I made the transition to deer fencing several plants had been eaten. I removed the hardware cloth enclousers when I circled my plants with the deer fencing it wasnt preventitive enough to keep whatever vermin was chowing on my plants over several days/weeks. I took all the steps, dog hair, garlic scent repellents, deer repellent, moth balls and fencing but they/it wiped me out along with alot of planning. The only way that area can be used again is if I am willing to 100% level 4 on all sides of the grow with know nonsense fencing along with bird cloth for the investment of bringing things out to the area possibly in the years to come. I can determine if someone has visited dureing the months ahead because certain trails have been blocked with natural brush to discourage tresspassers. Yea I know im a tresspasser but you get what im saying.

I am curious to get more involved in geocaching because I know some of the areas like the back of my hand. Granted I could pick better areas for growing where geocachers arnt likely to place their troves of goodies but im working with the area near where I live and it has limited options like it isnt totally rural, so it did benifit me to check the google map feature where the caches were hidden and see just how many and how far away they were placed and I was relieved that my area was immune to their searchs because trails dont really exist where my plot is/was.
