Question some problems on the leaves
permalink

Hi all
something strange happens on some of the leaves on my outdoor plant
A lot of little holes, surrounded by yellowing edges. What kind of insect can do that?
I have already experienced some problems with slugs - btw: I recommend the usage of wasted coffee, surrounding the plant, as natural slugs repellent - but this time it seems something different

I'm applying a foliar spray with sodium silicate and amargo - quassia, almost once a week

It seems to work on the most of the plant, anyway I cannot apply it continuosly and it's raining a lot in this season...

What do you think about the holes.... what kind of f***ng insect can do that?

I don't think that is insect damage. It looks like snails have been working at night. Check after dark or early in the morning before sunup.

Sounds like buzz maybe on track. I would also examine with scope to make sure.

What do you mean with "buzz on track"? please explain...
What I can do to get rid of it?

buzzmobile: I don't think so, beacause I have already experienced slugs problems: they don't eat little holes, THEY EAT GIANT PORTIONS OF THE WHOLE LEAVE

I ment that buzz's comment sounded in line. I kinna think buzz knows about grows...heh

I definitely would check with a scope. Could be several things..some that I would guess at... basically I am not sure.

Maybe its over heat/to close to lights, bugs or got brushed against something..or????

FYI there are small tiny snails out there...donno if they eat herb, but I would not be surprised if they do.

I'd try and examine with a scope as much as possible without bothering my girls.

sorry Allglad, but I don't own a scope..
the plant is outdoor, almost full sun.
These dameges are mainly focused on the back of the plant, ie. the northern side of the plant: this is the side of the plant which receive less sunlight

please help.... I'm scared that the infection can spread wide and infect the whole plant

hmm I really advise you get'n a scope. A magnifieing glass will work too..but be carefull with them..u dont wanna burn your plant. I like scopes better than mag glasses. With a good close look I think it would be easier to find the problem.

I am not good enough to tell you what is go'n on at this stage. Maybe someone else can though....

dont think you need to worry about anything spreading...its just some bug bites. not a disease or anything.

i personally love neem oil for bugs. seems to keep them off and away. is that the botton or top of your plant? it could very well be anything. thiers way too many bugs to point out wich one exactly. all you can do is hope to see it in action one day.

id go to your site early one morning, like as soon as you see light outside, and check for slugs/snails. if you have a lot, buy some of the pellets for them. just sprinkle around your plants, and they should soon be gone. i can go out early some mornings, and count 10 slugs within a minute. they are my absoulte worst enemy besides deer and rippers here.

I think the damage is not from slugs but snails. A scope is not going to be necessary. Have you checked the plant after dark?
