i thought it should be in the bickering babies forum.

ph down is a necessary evil. if your ph is 9 and you have no other way to get it down, use ph down. if the plants are in soil, i cant see one watering with high PH really affecting anything...assuming the ph of the soil is correct.

another completely off topic post there, cancer....

as long as your don't use ph for pools, you'll be fine. as a matter of fact, you'd effect the taste if you didn't ph it down, it would cause potassium issues, which plays a big roll in developing the flavour of your buds

vinegar or lime juice works as well, but doesn't keep it as stable. better to just spend the ten buck and pick up some good ph down. I've been that route. phosforic or nitric acid is where it's at.

happy growing

Hi Matt,
O.K, That (potassium) might explain why I've had crappy tasting bud other years that doesn't stay lit , even though I've done the required flushing. Think that's possible? BTW, thanks for your input!

Your dry/cure could account for that as well.

I'm very carefull about my dry and cure, Swap, so I can't see that as being the culprit. Thanks for your input.

I understand. I am very careful about my dry/cure as well.....just a thought because chlorophyll makes the smoke harsh and not taste as good, but it sounds like you have that completely under control.

Happy growing!

PH down definately would cause a taste issue, same with fertilizing right up to chopping. But dont we all flush with straight water anyway? So PH down isnt a issue cause you wont be using it during the flush.

I believe the dry/cure is not to blame, but there is definitely something going on that I can't quite put my finger on.
I'm hoping that changing over to organic fertilizers and pro-mix soil might help fix the problem . Now ph down has come into play so there's another variable to consider.
Hoping that I can find access to some neutral ph water water at the end of bloom to flush with. Thanks

if it doesnt stay lit that tells me there is too many nutrients in your final product. need to flush better or longer. amsterdam coffeshops are famous for this. joints not staying lit because of the overly fed chemicals.

organics will be different. trust me.
