I was wondering on if I wanted to put my plants in the ground, how would I do it. Would I just plant them in the ground, or put soil down is a certain amount of area say like 3x3 foot of space or what how would I do this.

Using a good potting soil is always best. And then adding some nutrients that dont atract animals.

The more soil you use, the better imo. Ive put plants into the natural soil around here, and others in 10 gallons of good soil and the difference is amazing.

Bigger the hole the better imo. But bigger also means more.

well thank you and I know about nutes and all that kinda I was just wondering and getting some else opinion on what to do. so ya all I have to do is dig a nice big hole say like 2 or 3 feet deep and then fill it with the soil. and go from there like if I was growing in a pot. the only reason is I have heard that it is better to grown in ground instead of pots because of the drain situation. and that they can grow bigger.

no need to go much further than 1 -1 1/2' down unless the drainage is very poor and the area is hard packed clay, its a waste of soil. mj grows a fairly shallow root system growing in the ground and 4x4 sq x1 (maybe 1 1/2 at most) feet will accommodate some pretty big trees.

Shape doesnt matter. You could dig out the shape of a pot leaf and the roots would fill it up. Roots grow anywhere their is room, and then some.

I personally like to dig about a foot deep, and a foot wide. But I leave the very top part like 6-8 inches wide...If that makes sence. So the hole is really wider than the opening. I find I save myself a lot of soil by doing this.

if you dig the hole like stoney said, make it like the big part of a funnel upside-down, it also helps the topsoil/growing soil (the stuff you bought) from eroding away to quickly. Also helps hole the stem better.

Tip 2- if you can, if its legal or well-hidden, put some 1/2 inch hardware cloth around the plant to try to keep critters off.

Also, try to put some mulch-straw (not hay, too many weed seeds) , shredded newspaper, grass clippings, anything on top of the new soil for about 2-3 inches. It can help with bugs, keep soil moist, lots of things.
