Using Beauveria bassiana fungus to kill pests...
permalink

I was wondering if anyone has tried using this method to rid pests from their outdoor grow sites? If you are unfamiliar with this fungus, it is a naturally occurring fungus found in a variety of soils and when it makes contact with the cuticle of susceptible insects, it grows into the host's body, and devours it! Pretty sweet, and then after that happens, it releases spore bodies that release further infective spores into the environment.

I tried it in my indoor grow. I was not successful in controlling whiteflies with Beauveria.

No idea about grasshoppers but,

Its real popular around here...and as soon as the root aphids we have been experiencing migrate, it will become more popular. It is purchased as Mycotrol or Botanigard.

Although this doesn't kill 100% of root aphids, it comes close.

As far as a one shot, Pyganic or Pyreth-it have better mortality rates; but are not fungi.
