Question about timelines
permalink

A friend and I received 6 plants about 2 months ago. At the time we put 5 in pots and I took one up to my place in the country and planted it in a old farmers field that is no longer used. MY friends 5 plants have stayed the same size (more or less) as when we got them, but started to mature much faster than my plant. His already have what looks like baby buds growing.

Mine on the other hand, started growing and hasn't stopped yet. Its almost getting too big for my comfort. Its flowering all over, lots of white hairs but they don't cover the stem like my friends does. His seems like it sacrificed size for buds, and mine did the opposite. My question is..when can I expect harvest. Ive been told late september but im worried about frost. Frost will come soon, I expect it in the next 2 weeks.

I live in Ontario, Canada so right now the weather is starting to cool off. The nights are getting down to around 10C, the days around 22C.

e/ Also, I was told trimming some of the lower branches..even if it has a small flower on it can help the plant focus its energy on the top buds. True?

Thanks

You still have a bit to go...maybe as long as six weeks. Hard to say not knowing the strain...

Yours that is in the gorund is bigger than your buddies in pots because the roots are bigger. Plants always grow bigger in the gorund as opposed to pots...unles you use huge pots of course...

I live in Ont too....and can get mine to go as long as middle of October....mother nature depending. If we start to get frost, try to cover up the plant at nite so she doesn't get frozen. Some strains can sustain a few frosts and it actually helps them finish up.....gotta be careful wth this though

Yes you can trim some of the lower growth and popcorn buds....they likely will not mature anyways.

Good luck

My friends plant has purple hairs, along with the white ones. A friend of mine said that its most likely a sativa strain. Does that help?

I might have to chance it with the frost. Being in an unsecured place, I don't like to disturb the brush around the area more than once a week or you start to see paths.

Well most sativa's have longer flowering times... but not always. I'm assuming your friends plants started flowering because they have more shade or darkness... Your plant may even end up producing more than your friends because your plant grew more.

Basically all you can do is hope that its a short flowering time... or that we have an Indian Summer and it goes all the way into october and november. I actually have a long flowering plant that is just starting to flower and I'm hoping for the late summer because I live in Minnesota and we've had 45 F' nights for the past few days...

Good luck of the bud though...
