the plants are ready when the weather says they are...you'll want to get them used to the sunlight though, if they haven't been getting it already...put 'em out in the sun for a few hours a day for a few days, once they start not drooping in the heat/bright sun, they'll probably do alright outside for good...

Mary Jane initial thread question update

I am curious as to how this grow went with transplanting them outside. I also reside in the same state and am on my second grow. I'm thinking of switching them outdoors sometime in april. This will give them three months of veg. time. I have learned to train them from my first grow, due to height restrictions. So far, I have 14 baby sprouts and hopefully they'll all continue to hang around for the duration. I enjoyed the indoor grow being able to watch every move they made, however I don't believe that my harvest is worth the possible problems that could arise. To be honest, I feel safer for that matter in having it driven to me from Wisconsin. Burns more money, but what do you do when you're new to the state , want to keep a low profile and everyone seems to have no idea where the good M.J. is? Sort of like a catch 22 or bad nightmare. I miss the big city access, but won't trade it for the piece of mind. To be honest, part of me feels that it'd be nice to have an assosiate with common intrest to talk to in person. However, there is always the thought in the back of your mind of who can and can't be trusted. Sure you feel the same as well. Whatever the case, it's good to speak with someone in this area who knows the weather patterns and such. The best thing about growing outside here is the fact that weed grows wild here and will provide great cover because knowone seems to look twice at those plants here other than me. Growing up, people would ask if I feared for my life rotating in the core of some of the worst cities in the U.S., but to me, it was an everyday thing and that's how wild M.J. is seemed to be viewd here. Well hopefully we can become great cyber smoking partners and maybe shoot some pool or something. With that being said, pain now set in and this means it's time to take a couple vicodine.

Am I the only one who wakes up every morning expecting a legalization law to be immediately passed or is this wishful thinking?

Your plants will start to flower when their light cycle reaches 12/12. Putting them outdoors means you're letting mother nature take over, she'll decide when they start to flower. 4 inches is still pretty small, I'd give then another couple weeks Cheers

There really is no right way to grow, you have to resonate with a style and learn what you can,
tweak it to your own style and raise the bar each grow... OD '07

dude, you need to:

1. contact that grey haired crazy mofo with the DeLorean, and travel back in time, to 2000.

2. send post card to 2007. let us know how it went.

if its 24/7 indoors, and then you move it outside where its like 13/11.. my bet is it will start to flower. When starting plants indoors to later transplant outdoors.. I'd advise to start the plants on a 18/6 or 17/7 schedule. if you do use the 24/7, the week or 2 before moving them outside, i'd suggest giving the plants an hour less light each day until you reach 18/6 or less.

anyone agree?

Agreed, I know of people who have done 18/6 inside, and put them out into probably 15/9 (early June where I live) and they still started flowering right away..and from what I hear, reveg is not something you want to go through

Also be sure to harden off your plants outside for a few hours each day before the transplant.

here's some good info on transplanting, it deals with going from a smaller pot to a bigger pot, but it's the same basic concept:

The Marijuana GrowFAQ - Grow Great Marijuana - Why do I need to transplant?

And I would personally let it get a little bigger than 4", the root's probably don't have much mass yet and it may damage them. Also keep in mind that heavy rain, strong winds, or an insect problem are more likely to affect (even kill) your plant if they are small. I lost alot of smaller plants because of this last year.
