Post My Summer Plans
permalink

So, I'll be growing Afghani this year ... outdoor. I have about 18 plants germinated to "seedling" status (popped in soil/perlite mix). They have not yet been sexed (when should I do this?) They are currently under a 4 ft fluro and being watered ever day or two or as needed. Temperature is low 15° C. Any ideas on how to get it higher in a cement basement ... they're raised about 6 in off the floor. Relative humidity is 50 (is that good?)

Now my bed plans. I plan on making an raised bed about 7' x 8'. I also have some 5 galllon pales available to use and a few large tupperware like containers (60L capacity I believe). I plan on doing some plants with chemical ferts (I've used them before and didn't mind the results. I also plan on doing a couple organic to test differences in yield and smoke quality. For the bed's soil I plan on using Pro Mix, 3 Bags of each: Sheep, Chicken, and Rabbit Manure, 5 lbs Bone Meal, 1 bag of Vermiculite, 1 Bag Perlite (to improve drainage), and if I can find it ... Bat Guano.

For my Chems I'll be using Schutlz Plant Food (20-30-20 I believe) for veg and Schutlz Ultra Bloom (10-60-10 I thinks).

For Organics I have only Fish Emulsion (any other suggestions? ). End of summer I plan on taking a few clones from the best mom. I'll be growing 1 male this summer and I'll breed him with a clone I take to beef up seed supply.

We had a horrible summer here last year and I'll still managed to pull a resonable yield ... so I expect year 2 to be much better being armed with some of the knowledge you good people often share. Thanks in advance.

You seem determined to keep at it, which is what it takes. It takes trial and error to realize what it takes to be able to 'read' a plant.

I have great confidence that if your going to spend your time and money, it is best spent on making sure that you have a good, healthy soil.

Wicked new update!

So now I plan on having 2 sites. One will be a raised bed, the other a bucket grow spot.

Here's the Bucket spot

It's totally covered in cedar so I'll keep the cedar trimmed well enough to create a conopy just above the pot top. Aspect of this picture is me standing on a log overhanging the stream (so water is fairly close )

What do ya think?

Say HighDrow,
I moved your first thread to the "Plant Food and Nutrients/Organics" Forum. You will get good feedback on organics there. This thread is very close to being a duplicate of the first. Try to keep yer posts on forum topic and in correct forum.
You can sex your plants indoors under appropriate lighting in 5-6 weeks of veg. R/H of 50% is OK...65-70% during veg. is better.
