permalink

SuP ALL,

... I've started my plants, and put them outside. After about 1 1/2 week(s) we have had some serious rain. Here are the pictures. Please comment on them, I'm wondering if there doing okay, if everything is normal, and what I need todo to fix them.

Thanks, bM [note: pictures below, also ... here is a bigger picture of the 2nd picture: http://www.bm0wl.com/2d.jpg ]

They are showing signs of all the rain that was trying to drown them. The best thing that can happen is for them to dry out. Don't add any fertilizer until things have dried out considerably. Be patient and do your Sun Dance and they will more than likely recover. If you can raise the container off of the ground it will aid in drying the soil out.

Yup blVl - What the buzz said. An addition to that, those new leaves that are showing up, they look really good and healthy. Elevating the pot is important for good drainage and good drainage is important for a healthy grow. You can use pieces of wood or rocks or bricks or what ever you can find, just a couple of inches is good.
What's the story with that rock in plant number 1?
Peace -

There really is no right way to grow, you have to resonate with a style and learn what you can,
tweak it to your own style and raise the bar each grow... OD '07

I don't think the rain did too much damage. The leaves aren't that yellow. Good thinking with the rocks.

A few thoughts

In my experience it's normal for the first set of leaves (the "false" leaves that first appear from the seed (called catlydons)), it's pretty normal for those to die.
In my experience they'll die after you get a 3 or 5 pronged leaves, or 3 or 4 nodes (now that is from indoor experince, so it may happen faster outside)

The yellowing is a bit disheartening. It could be from the sun beating down upon them after it rained, with the rain drops acting as little magnifying glasses. The wind may be drying out the leaves, but that really doesn't seem likely. If you there's a lot of wind then it could be the case that the small root system can't keep up yet. Or it could be from the general stress of those plants going outdoors.

The yellowing could also be from bugs, I'd check for them.

It's doubtful that the yellowing is from nitrogen deficiency, could be from nutrient burn, if you've fertilized then that's possible. It that's the case then you should flush your plants, but the rain probably did that for you already.

Other than that I'm not sure, sorry, i know that wasn't a lot of help.

Personally if they keep growing, and the new growth doesn't yellow like that, then I'd not worry about it. Otherwise you should redouble your efforts to try and find out what's wrong. Check the pH, that could be the problem maybe.
