Heres the story... I got 5 sativa beans from a bud I got from a grower I know. It was a glorious pure head-buzz so I started them in a veg box. 4 of them turned traitor and grew balls and I killed them. There was one left who hadn't shown sex yet but I needed the room to put in some sure-fire indica so I threw the remaining sativa (which I was sure was also a male) outside. That was on September 10th. Lo and behold (in late Sept) the damn thing turned out female! Bummer. No way I had enough weather left to let her go to maturity. She's way too tall for any cabinet arrangement I could possibly whip up in time. So, now I have a six foot pure reality-crushing sativa that is immature but packed with inch long buds. I'm gonna have to take her down soon. The next ten days here (45 N) will be rainy, no sun. Should I harvest her now? Will 10 more cloudy days actually do her any good? Any advice would be gratefully appreciated. Regards, Landru

Get an idea of your areas expected first frost and plan to harvest around that time. ofcourse she could make it through the first frost depending on how severe it is. maybe outdoors or somebody with more experience growing outdoors can chime up here and give you some better advice.

I think you should take a bunch of clones off of her and grow them inside over the winter. If you could get even a couple clones rooted indoors it would be worth it. you could have a mom, be sure all cuttings are female, and wouldn't loose a great smoke. Then try to finish the outside plant the best you can. its not to far into flowering to reveg, and get a mom going. Just an idea, i think it would work. -peace & good luck

Even if clouded sun is good the growth I'll get will be minimal right? I mean, will get anything better than I'd get if I chop her now? Jeez, I feel like a barbarian even asking that... Chop her now means some quick-dry budz. Mmmmmm. I'm out. Dry. In a plant-i-cidal mood. Help me resist!!!! Please? Regards, Landru

Awwww man. You said what I've been thinking. That would mean that I have to build a veg cab, get cloning gel and be a parent again huh? I think it'd be worth it - the buzz is like an orgasmic force-fed Kaplan course on Hawking delivered by a Tesla coil. Glksdlkjlk sa;l kdsl fdlskfs. Hmmmmmm. Blaaaaaavvv. Okay. I know you are right. Got any advice for someone who knows NOTHING about cloning? Regards Landru

![]() | I say wait for the couple extra weeks eventhough the weather won't be as good. It's not like it will be bad for the plant, it will probably just grow more slowly. I harvested my plant early and I definatly wished I had waited longer. Why not clip a bud or two and see how you like the smoke and if it's good, then do the rest. If you think it could use some more maturing, give her a couple more weeks.

If you really want to save the genitics take some clones now. If they are in flower you might not get a great return but you only need one. Harvest when you think it's right and leave the bottom set of branches on the stalk. After a day or so dig up the plant and put it into a pot. Put that under a shop lamp and carefully keep it alive 24/7. If you are lucky you will begin to reveg. New non-flowering shoots will start to show after a while. I would wait on any thing that might shock the plant, just water at first and then begin some weak ferts buyilding up slowly. Take more clones and repeat above. I am ready to harvest 3rd gen clones using the method above. A couple of friends of mine found one seed each in buds I gave them. My strain now has roots in 3 cities. I figure the seeds must be hermies at worst and females at best. My genes are safe. I will take over the world, HAHAHAHA... ![]()
