general fert question for outdoor grower
permalink

I have a few ferts. all organic. and they are very different. one has only nitrogen, the other has only phosphorus. the last is a general fert, i plan on using it for veg 5-3-3.
now i wanted to know. if i have two ferts of the following type
50-0-0 and 0-30-0
could i effectively make a fert that is 50-50-0 by mixing proportionate parts of each, so one part the first and 1.6 part of the other.

The numbers are a percentage of total composition. If your general fert is 5-3-3, then you have 5% nitrogen bearing compounds, 3% phosphorus compounds, and so on when used at recommended strength. If you double the amount of fert and keep the same amount of water, it would make sense that you've effectively doubled each of the numbers.

So, I guess the answer your question is yes... but I'm not an expert so I'll defer to anyone else who has an opinion.

that is the same logic that I was following to reach the conclusion I made. However, since I am new, I thought i'd ask to make sure.
