Have one plant.. not too big but its budding.

Ok, so I started a few plants that ended up not working, so I bought a clone.

It was probably about 6'' tall when I transplanted it into the ground from a little black container type thing. I dug a hole in the ground in a nice clearing in the woods and dumped organic potting soil in the ground and mixed in some perlite and some bonemeal. Then I put a chicken wire fence around it thats about three feet tall.

I planted it probably late in may when it was that tall, which doesn't seem all that great but I wanted to try to grow this season to alteast learn a few things, as I see this is probably going to become a full time hobby

I never over watered it or anything, looked after it pretty well and it looks pretty healthy. It's probably abuout 2 to 2.5 feet tall now.. on the 30th of august.. whats that, like, ah just a probably a little over 3 and a half months old.

Anyways the point of this thread is because I have a few questions and such.. First one being; was it a bad idea that I didnt use plant food? I don't know why I didn't, at the time I just didn't really know, and would it be to late now to start using it? I've heard you're supposed to use like 20-20 for when its growing up but not flowering, whatever you call that again before the floweing stage.. vegetative growth? After that you're supposed to switch to something for flowering, what would be a good food for that if I even should use anything.

The plant looks a little bit bushy, only really has one big branch coming off of it though. Is this plant a lost cause for any sort of yield, or could I get like a quarter bag or something off of it by the time fall comes around.. which is pretty soon. It doesn't look anything like some other plants on this site though, maybe a branch off of one..

Oh and for next season, I want to get seeds and start them inside. Do you need to buy lights and start them in a closet, or would that mess up the light cycle and would the temperature change mess it up? Or can you just start them in the window cill, someone told me that but it was just some random so i'm not going to jump up and follow his advice. Well... unless that random is on a site dedicated to growing.

Oh, and one more thing, if I drive an atv to a grow site, and some day I get caught, would they take the wheeler because it is involved in some sort of criminal whatnot? Like if you run in a high speed chase in a car, they take the car. I dunno, does anyone else lol?

Thanks for any advice in advance.

holy crap that's a lot of questions.. I got a lot of typing too do here

Ok so you have a clone outside from what I understand, If you plant is not budding right now you should definitiely fertilize with some 20-20-20 plant food. Just get some of the cheap blue powder or something from home depot since your just starting out.... It is fairly easy stuff too use, it just mixes in water (follow the directions).

When your plant does start flowering I would feed with veg fertilizer (20-20-20) for about 2 weeks into flower, (just too make sure there is ample nitrogen). After that you can move into some flowering fertilizer. I'm used 10-52-10 when I was starting out and got some really nice buds.

Without a picture It would be quite hard too guess at a yield... Also, the one large branch you mentioned is probably the cola, at the top of the plant, this is the main stem branch. Where usually the biggest bud forms on the plant.
If the plant is 2 and a half feet tall I would expect you too get at least an ounce, maybe two off the plant if you start fertilizing.

For your other questions about next season you can start the plants outdoors yes. That Is what I did this year actually, you can check out my journal if you want, the link is in my signature... You can also buy some lights and start the plants indoors ahead of time, the longer you have them inside and the bigger they are when you put them outside, and the bigger they will eventually be when you harvest next season. But if I were you I would actually buy some clones and have them inside for awhile ahead of season. Reason for this is then you are guarenteed female plants and you wont have some male monsters come flowering time. (which sucks, trust me).

And about your last question I do believe they would take the ATV, it would be impounded, but if you have it in someone elses name, say a parent or a relative then they would be able to get it out of the impound.

You will want to do some research on the growing indoors part of the forum, also, read some of the grow journals, soil is probably the best way too start indoors for a beginner, Good growin and good luck! This is the best place too learn about growing, so take in all the info, it will be worth it.
Hope this helps.

Ok, thanks.

So for next season it would probably be the best idea to grow somewhere I can walk to but most people wouldn't want to walk to. Cause a crminal record I can risk, but my wheeler I can't. It's soo useful though.. I dunno could just be extra careful and don't park near the site at all.

I think my plant is flowering. There are like white pistles all in little bunches around the plant if that would be where the buds are going to come out of.

So if that's the case i'll pick up some of that 10-52-10 stuff and give it a try.

yup, you're into flower about a couple weeks then if your bedding the flower clusters. Start feeding with that flower fert. One thing though when transplanting outdoors next year if you start them indoors. For the first week or so put them in a shady spot to get used to the sun's rays. If you move outside after growing under a flouro or HPS they will burn since the sun is so much more powerful. I left mine in the shade for a week and a half this year and only a couple showed signs of burning. G'luck on that baby. If it gets enough sun during the day and your node spacings are close, I'd say an oz. or better is a good estimate.

Not using nutrients in outdoor growing is ok. I hardly ever nute mine but I use composted manure from pigs, chickens, and cows in my soil. I usually use weak strength nutes (10-15-10 for veg. and 2-7-7 for flower) only when I notice a deficiency(which was twice this summer). Peters makes some OK nutes that are easily available and cheap.

As for parking the wheeler, that sounds good. Park it out of the way and mark off a trail through the woods (not in a straight line). A good tip on another thread here suggested a lot of good ways to cover up your trail. Zig-zagging and going into trees are a couple of the great ideas to use.

And goat, with a clone at now about 3 feet, I'd say over 1 oz. is easy. With a seed planted late May you could still get over 1 oz. per plant. My plants were all started late May from seed. I planted them outsude when they were 8-10" tall and they never looked back. They are bushy and varrying from 3 to 4 feet in height. I expect to get 3 oz. per plant at least. With outdoor you can be surprised at how much better and bigger they bud. I wish I woulda started earlier but I will be hapy with what I get. Here are some pics. If you have any colas forming like the last pic, you'll be happy come harvest time. Good luck and pray for no mold in the next 3-4 weeks.

The first pic was on 7-31-06 and the second and third were on 9-18-06.
