| okay , i have 2 plants , both about 1 1\2 months old and are growing outdoors along a fence , i recently transplanted them there and the fence is about 6 feet tall and the plants 4 1\2 feet. Im starting to get concerned at the way they are growing now as they are tall , at least i think for their age. Also i never pruned them or topped them yet , I was wondering if its too late to top them the "right" way or how should i go about lowering the overall size of the plants ? Also i was wondering if this fast of a growth rate is normal ? thanx | ||

| Welcome slik.. You could top it, taking the growing tip off will cause it to stop producing hormones which inhibit branching. I wouldn't use the normal method of leaving only 6 or so nodes as it's already so tall, just taking off the growing tip will make it stop growing up, till the branches that shoot out reach it's present height anyways. If you MUST, you can cut it lower, but this would be a major shock, really slowing down growth. It could also make a fem turn hermie, but I doubt it would kill it. Don't do this if they've started to flower tho. The fence reflecting the light could account for quicker growth. D9 | ||
