Angry had to use "cool light" during flowering!!!
permalink

hi all, i'm a first time grower (feminized "PowerPlant" dutch passion).
i have lovingly nurtured 4 of the 5 seeds i started with to their second week of flowering using a 600w (growlux sylvania) diamond reflector.(used 2 125w cool light cfl's and reflector during veg)
i am growing hydroponically in a budbox (1.2m x 1.2m x 2m). because it is my first grow i have not trained them or pruned them at all as i wanted to experience the natural growth first hand so that i have something to compare with when i do train them. unfortunately, because of this, one of my girls is almost 2m tall and the others are catching up fast. my new lights will arrive 2morrow (2 x 250W powerplant cfl's red spectrum) i plan to hang them from the ceiling of the budbox reflectorlessly . Now, here, finally is the question.... how will my girls be affected by the fact they have had 8 days of the wrong spectrum of light?? (had to turn the 600watter off as it was burning the tops of the plants and i couldnt bend them now even if i wanted to (which i do) as they fill the entire box so densely i cant get to em'!) ps they have been recieving this light from a side - on position just to make matters worse. anyone had a similar experience light-wise?
thanx in advance and good karma to all in The Garden.

There really isnt a "wrong" spectrum of light when talking about red vs blue spectrum. Plants can go from seedling to harvest under any one of those, and will have different growth characteristics depending on which one is provided at which stage. I veged mine under my HPS lamps with no blue spectrum, which wasnt ideal because the plant stretched a bit more, but it also didnt hurt anything.

In short, you have nothing to worry about.

thanx a lot for your quick replies guys. i think that one of the reasons i got myself into this situation is because i waited for alternating nodes before i went 12/12. for the next time what problems would you forsee if, barring any stretching, i went 12/12 purely based on height of plant?
i'll be growing from seed again because powerplant is not the strain i hope to harvest for the long haul, i was told in jest by the nice lady at dutch passion in amsterdam that "powerplant seeds will grow even if you try to kill it, its a true weed!" she couldnt have been more right.

You can start flowering whenever you want hbomb, just keeping in mind that it will stretch 2x3 times it's height after you induce flowering.
