My lady is four weeks into flowering it is about 3' tall and has good color. I have it in a five gollon bucket in a hot house. onn 12/12 some times she is in the dark 13 to 14 hours. Gets water about every 3 or 4 days. My problem is the tips of all the leaves except the new ones around the buds have brown tips? What am I doing wrong. On my last watering I just started her on 10-52-10 fertilizer. Is she ok? thanks Papo

...it depends on if you started them off with a high dose o' ferts. They should be introduced slowly...1/4 strength at first. And never full strength. I burned my tips AND buds on my first grow by goin' nuts with the Schultz 10/60/10. PooN

![]() | Did you give a good flush to wash off residuals in the soil? I go with Abs,and add that brown tips are also caused by salts build-up,hence the need for leaching. As the new tips aint burning,i lean more toward build-up. Cheers

This is just a confirmation post ![]() My plant was doing the same thing...I gave her a good flush and the newer leaves didnt have the brown tips that you describe. Seems like they're more sensitive to soil toxidity when flowering? _Awake204

I'll try a good flush and see how she does. Poon did your first grow still come out good? Right now it is just the tips and it started before I changed the ferts t0 10-52-10 and I have only given her one treatment of those and that was at full strength I hope they don't burn more. right now it is just the tips so I hope it don't spread. It has been like this for about 9 days without change. I'll be more careful in the future.

![]() | hey guys, i read your posts because my seedling is just 5 days old, she is about 2 inches tall with two small leaves and two even smaller. on one of the smallest leaves the tip has turned a browny black colour. i have not used any ferts at all, just water - they are all in the same potting compost. what do you think this could be? this plant was the first to shoot up, and seems to have slowed down over the last two days? do you think i have a problem coming?? or am i getting paranoid about loosing my babies any help would be nice

I don't reckon you being paranoid, after all, that prognosis aint what your after. Are you referring to the cotyldons,or 2 first tru leaves? Your not overwatering?Or Under? I dried out one of my babes a lil,and fried her left cotyldon off No drama...she A-ok.But I like livin' on the edge, you may like to play a little safer??!! ...unless something in the soil..?? The red stem is fine, some plants have them all their life (a few of mine do) on older plants, it could *possibly* be a sign of potassium (or is it phosphorus? ) deficiency , but not this early in the game! As for the tips turning color, are the brown parts sort of wilted and damp-feeling? if so, it sounds like it could possibly be a fungus just hope it's not! Did you sterilize your growing area before the seed sprouted? If so, then I doubt it's that. If it continues to grow, well, you might be screwed i don't think such a young plant would be able to handle fungicide yet (if anyone knows a fungicide that wouldn't harm a seedling, please post!), and trimming the infected leaves right now isn't really an option unless you see the next set sprouting up top... try keeping the humidity down, if you're spraying the leaves when you water, try just watering the soil for a few days. Also, if your lights aren't on 24 hours and it wont draw attention to put them on 24, do so (fungi grow better in the dark, and besides, it's better for the plants. MJ doesn't need to rest! It'd be like one nice, long day, and she grows faster and stronger then). Main thing is, watch 'em like a hawk, and if the problem gets any worse, take action.
