Hey guys, whaddaya think? Are the benefits of CO2 enrichment worth the trouble? Take the poll! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ahem... ![]() ![]() Assuming all conditions are optional (ample light, proper nutrients, adequate environmental control, etc), do you think the effort of installing and maintaing a CO2 enrichment system is worth the trouble? ![]() _Awake204 ![]() Last edited by Awake204; 07-19-2001 at 10:38 AM..

Co2 is only useful if you have plenty of light (i'm not sure exactly how much) and nutes if it dose not enough of these the extra co2 won't be used so I think its an unfair poll. IMHO Folci.

![]() ![]() | Too many variables to make a good poll, sorry Awake. A good grower with a 400 HPS may be able to make use of it. A bad grower with a 1000 HPS wont be able to use it at all to help significantly See what I mean? ![]() Smokin

Sorry guys, Let me edit that original post...Thanks for input! -Awake204 Xzoomd I think that with CO2, MJ can flourish in temps up to 98 degrees or so. Without CO2 enrichment, that kind of environtment would be detrimental. I guess it goes back to the early days of MJ's evolution when the earth's climate was much warmer than it is now. (Those early mammals must have got mighty stoned back in the day...maybe that explains the cannibinoid receptor sites in our brains )![]() That's what I've read, anyway! _Awake204 Last edited by Awake204; 07-19-2001 at 10:43 AM..

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | if you get up around 10,000 lu/sqfoot then if you dont supply additional CO2 then around 2000-3000 lumens will not be able to be used by the plant.. there are many many variables though.. too many to talk about. if you dont have that much light.. which most amature growers dont, then dont worry about the co2. peace

Thanks for the replies... Right now Im running about 5300 lumens/ft^2. By the time I set up my next (2nd) grow< I should be right up around 10,000 lumens/ft^2. (Either 2 250W HPS or one 400W in a 6ft^2 area.) Thanks! _Awake204

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hello folks, Back when I was a wild and wolley lad I was right into the C02, heck I wasnt happy unless I had carried 2 or 3 160 lbs gas bottles up the stairs... ![]() Anyway my offering hee is thatunles you are using 1000watt lamps or similar, then the benefit of C02 is negated, as othershavementioned, by insuficient lumens, basically the chloroplastic reactions (ie c02 splittin) arnt at a sufficient rate of reacting tomake it worthwhile. With the correct amount of light we can get some spectacular growth, we used the gas for the first 4 weeks of flowering only, and the plants loved it, it relies on a carefully controlled environment thats airconditioned also, so we are talking a severe environmental control reigme. We have 20 to 30% more product and it finished 1 week earlier, resin production was exaggerated also. but damm those bottles are heavy. my 0.2 OzGrowa

Heck, OzGrowa's advice is worth $.20 to me ![]() ![]() ![]() Oh, and that 'optional' in the top post is supposed to be 'optimal' (duh...) Thanks for all the input guys...the reason Im so curious on all this is, when I started my first grow, after doing all the reading on the benefits of CO2 enrichment, I got all excited and went out and bought a whole system (which was crazy, because I was in school and flat broke...). I have all the gear, but I never actually got to use it because some parts didnt get here until I was nearly done with harvest. So, now Im putting together a DWC bubbler and getting ready to start my next grow, and I have this complete unused CO2 system ready to go. BUT, I've only got one 250W HPS in a 3'X3' growing area. In order to effectively make use of the CO2, should I definately invest in another light? What would you guys recommend? Another 250WHPS or go with one 400W HPS? I am planning on going with SCrog this time, so two 250's might make for better light distribution...but then there's that intensity issue. BUT, as long as I use the Scrog screen the plants wont be over 20" tall....Im so confused ![]() _Awake204
