You will want to get most of the soil off... If you can "wash" the soil off the roots w/out damaging them, that would be just fine.

You could place them in a cup of water to let the roots and dirt come off easier... Dont use cold water it could shock them.(room temp is fine)

I transplanted from soil to hempy with some 6 week old clones. I just washed off the dirt and folded the roots into the cup as I added the pearlite. It took about a week for them to get over all the abuse I had put them through while they were in soil. They were in bad shape when I transplanted them so I didn't really see any shock from the move.
I was experimenting with the nutes once they were in the hempys, and burned them pretty bad. I watered them with just water until they went dormant, and restarted the nutes at 10% strength. They are doing great now and just went into flower last week.

I did the same thing with my plants except that they were almost 3 months old. I washed off the roots with warm water and it put it in the hempy and they took it like a champ. You can check in my soil journal. Its easier to do when they're small. Good luck.
