As if that isnt why Im here.

Im almost done reading the whole FAQ's on watering...

I KNOW HOW TO READ. (plus Ive read this whole forum to make sure my answer wasnt already there). And that is why Im asking here. It doesnt say in books, magazines or internet sites that Ive read. Nobody seems to know a REAL measurement. THEY JUST SAY:

Dont over water, dont under water.

This is useless.
What is the point of this forum, if you cant ask questions and get some answers.
At least tell me WHAT to read.
Ive already killed some plants and Im trying not to kill these ones.
Still NOBODY CAN HELP ME!

A few random thoughts and suggestions from me (feel free to determine yourself if its helpful or not helpful).

1. Analog's suggestion about reading (and it being fun, etc.) is spot on. Read as many grow journals (current and past) as possible to learn from others what they've tried, and what has worked and what hasn't worked. This is the easiest way to stand on the shoulders of those who have gone before you. Try two new methods of learning - patience and active listening.

2. Keep your plants in a container that corresponds to their size. I sprout seeds in a 4" square pot, and I root my clones in the same size pot. Once they root and get bigger (say 5" tall or taller) I transplant them into 8" pots, and finally move them to 5 gallon buckets for training, vegging and flowering. By always having your plant in the right size pot, it makes watering them easier.

3. Follow the method Outdoors suggests - water your plant until the soil is saturated, and check the weight. Let it go for a few days until the plant shows signs of needing water - and check the weight again. You don't need a scale for that - your hand will work - and you should be able to feel the difference between a wet 4" pot of soil and a dry one (or whatever size you have them in).

4. Last - learn to listen to your plants. They will tell and show you exactly what is going on with them. If they wilt (and you haven't watered) they are thirsty. If the start to get crispy check how close they are to the lights. If the leaves start getting yellow/brown spots on them, maybe your over-nuting them.

Try a bit less in your face approach to your questions - posting things like "well???" because you haven't gotten an answer is a pretty good way to get what you'll feel is a "condescending, smartass, useless answer". His point was you can find threads similar to this one in the nursery, grow journals and other categories.

The rest is pretty much up to you - this is a wonderful grow community that is wildly helpful, as opposed to some of the other marijuana sites on the web, where flaming and whatnot is the norm.

As Dennis Miller used to say, "That's just my opinion, I could be wrong".. in the event that I am, I'm gonna

Mazrim is starting to vegetate.
Agree with Under the Stairs..

My first post here...

Anyhow. Nicly put Stairs. Pointed and polite.

Green- The grow journals here are the bomb!! Under the Stairs in particular is very informative about what he is doing and why during his grows.

I'm on your level Green I'm still planning my first grow and am saturating all the info I can before I begin. I understand your frustration with wanting immediate answers. But please notice as you read the forums that we potheads here are very layed back people. I for one am honored to be part of such an adult and polite community here.

Good luck Green!
