null and void??

in all honestly when you make a last ditch effort to increase bud potncy at the end of the cycle like the last 14-10 dasy with the methods i described and someothers here also described such as

1) lower humidity
2) keep root zone drier
3) add uvb light
4) and whatever else you might think of such as driving nails through the trunk ofthe plant (not recomennded), or malasses.

all these thing might increase thrichome production in the last week or soof budding, but the extra trichomes that the plant does pack on because of these practices aregoing to not be mature at the time of picking and most will not have even started to "balloon Out" and fill with niceclear, milky,or amber thc (i know that the diffferent colors clear, cloudy, and amber are due to senesence or degradation of the actual thc)

so what i mean to say is that if you have found a reliable way to increase the amount of trichomes thatthe plant will grow during the last week of budding, it will in efffect actually LOWER the potency of the bud.

because the trichomes it is producing inthe last week of budding are never going to get the chance to fill out and "ballooon" full of thc. they probably wont even start getting a head on them by the time you harvest, so all its doing is adding the wieght of immature thc glands tothe bud, effectively (in scientific theory) lowered the potency by weight.

becaseu a thc% is the percent of thc compared to wieght of the sample.

so think of a tottally immature bud getting it's THC%-age chekced. its not going to measure very potent becaeu the glands are not filled with our phsycoactive buddy, THC. same with last week trichome produstion, they wtill very rarely havethe chance to mature before picking so its just added nothing-ness in a way.

now dont getmewrong i do the first 3 things i listed to increase THRICHOME PRODUCTION not to increase potency, but tomake the bud "appear" more potent and sticky.

pretty much, "thats a fact, jack."

"thats a fact jack" is a pretty bold statement with out good solid science behind it.

I generally buy what you're saying about these techniques adding immature triches, but not necessarily adding directly to potency. Although I do think two full weeks is long enough to add at least full gland and stalk trichomes even if they're clear. So I would say you're messing with the balance of clear / cloudy / amber triches. But the idea that adding more triches is simply saturating the over all potency just doesn't hold water. The mass that is added is made up of canabanoids not water or anything else that would dilute current mature trichomes.

uvb light should be added IMO within the first 1 to 2 weeks into flower, and that will increase potency because the trichomes will have plenty of time to develop, anyone who would add uvb right at the end of flowering shouldn't expect much and is wasting their time, and also doesn't make sense to me because if you can add em at 10 weeks, there is no reason why you can't add them at 5 or 6 weeks.

And if you think mollassess works, you can add it right after 12/12 begins, there is no reason to wait till the end.

i use to believe in the uvb thing but have read some things from well known growers who dissagree. and trichomes dont really develop the first 1-2 weeks ayway. some plants you wont see any till mid way flowering. and im not talking about shitty bagseeds.

sorry dude. but you're wrong on this one. the liquid in the plant is THC, all the liquids. it just has to be dry first before it becomes psychoactive. so for you to say that immature trichomes are not going to be filled with THC is false. that's why one of the well known methods for harvesting and drying is just hack the whole plant form the main stem, and hang the whole plant upside down leaves and all. after a week you'll have a shitty job of clipping dry leaves, but all the fluids in those leaves have also pushed themselves to the bud sites to try and save the 'fruit' of the plant. just like every plant does when it's dying, it puts everything it's got into the seeds. you will end up with a different flavour to the smoke, not neccessarily in a bad way, but it can effectively increase the THC to plant matter ratio by 1 or 2 percent. not much.

the molasses is a carbohydrate, which makes the plant increase fluid production and effectly increases the flow of liquids in your plant. you can do it with natural cane sugar as well, but it takes longer for it to desolve in your water. by increasing fluid percentage and the ability to move those liquids through the plant, the result is a plant that has the ability to dry more evenly because liquids have an easier time moving throughout the plant. and the abitlity to push the fluids easier and faster to the all important bud sites to protect the plant. so, less fluids dry before they get to the bud sites becasue it moves faster. making your plants frostier then you could imagine. if you use molasses/sugar, your plant will also taste sweeter to the smoke. no joke. molasses and cane sugar both give a slightly different taste. I wonder if you could do it with liqurice root or vanilla too...hmmm.

do all the tricks in the book, you're not going to make the plants type of THC make you more stoned and it won't increase the percentages by more the 2 maaaayyybe 3%. you're just going to have a higher THC to plant matter ratio. and that is fact. it's been documented in soft secrets by many different world renouwn growers including the likes of the great jorge cervantes.

hope this clears a couple things up.

happy growing.

What? Can you provide some evidence to back this up please. Are you saying that THC is produced inside the plant?

I'll have to look through my magazines....I may have misworded it a bit, but I know that all the liquids in the plant play an important roll in resin production, and if you have more fluid in your plant, more of that fluid can be used to make THC. give me a bit...

I love this place, no matter how sure you are of what you say, there's always someone to rock your boat.

EDIT: man, the first part of that post jumps through to many different ideas without proper transistion, I'll have to re-type it...sorry folks. but yes, I the more fluids in your plant, the more THC it will be able to produce during drying. I shouldn't have said all the liquids are THC, I should have said all the liquids in the plant have THC. the better that liquid can flow through the plant, the more of it will end up in your bud. hense the benifet of sugars. I've seen and smoked the results, I know it works. thanks for the reads too
