So ive heard a way to increase THC in plants,but it seems pretty detrimental to the plants growth.It says to pinch off leaf tips as soon as they appear,i guess the logic in this is that the plant doesnt focus its energy to grow those tips back,and focuses more on bud growth and thc production,and pinching off every leaf tip has got to add up to a lot of energy right?I was just wondering if anyone has any knowledge about this,seeing as i only have a couple plants that i started kinda late,i wanna get the most out of them in the time that they have.If anybody could help or knows for a fact that this works,the help is greatly appreciated.

ehhh this is the old "stress the plant out so that it will work harder" which seems like speculative theory at best to me. The way I see it, the less stressed the plant is the more resources are freed up to build the essential blocks to bigger better buds. I'd like to see all the tricks put through scientific scrutiny and find out what's true and what's not. One method I belive in is bringing the relative humidity down as low as possible in the final weeks of flowering. This causes the plant to want to seal up and retain its moister by increasing resin production. Another one I've seen by very reliable sources (GD2K for one) is that a Metal Halide light has some UVB rays which are good for trichome production.

Stressing plants so they work harder really works well if you take the time to stress plants all the ways you could imagine to see what works best. Letting them dry out real good so they build more resin to protect the leaves from the sun is the best way to increase thc, 24- 48 hrs darkness works well too. I can't see pinching ALL the leaves but why not pinch half on one plant and see what happens. As long as you have a control plant to compare to, should be a good experiment. Good Luck,

I just read somewhere, that lowering your Night time (lights off ) temps for the last 10 days or so and giving them slightly longer dark periods...10/14 say, will trigger more Trichs, as the plant will think winter is coming.......inturn triggering more THC!

I'm still doing some research,... If I find anything else interesting, I'll post it in here

im usssuming your doing an outdoor grow, but if you ever decide to grow indor, usinging uvb lights (the kind they sell for lizards in pet stors, increasis trichome producion, sometime drasticly on certian strains, the theory is that the trichomes grow more to protect the plant from the harmful uvb rays. alot of people on here do it and swear by it. Depending on where you live, you may get alot of uvb anyway, I know out west in the u.s gets a very high amount of UV, probably the highest in the country, and I would imagine anywhere along the equator gets hit pretty hard as well. Peace, and I hope when it comes time to harvest you end up getting some super kick ass dank fucking super bomb ass make you fall off your chair and then get back up and fall right into another bong hit that gets you so high your turn so green your mom mistakes you for the spinach she was about to cook with dinner that night.

this is what i like to do to the plants to make them producemore thc, i do this all the time.

last 20 days before chop i add 2 10% reptile cfl's (the highest wattage ones) to my grow so thereis a 600 watt hps enhanced blue bulb (super NRG bulb same spectrum as the HORTILUX enhanced hps, but it has more lumens) any way i add the retile bulbs that are 10% uv and i un glass my air cooled hood also.

then the last week i dont water the plants at all (assuming they are flushed good) i might even let emgo a couple extra days to get the medium super dry.

the RH% lowers automatically caseu my hood has the glassremoved and there fore the room is under constant ventilation and that gets the humidity down inthe 35%'s to 40% range.

andido the 24 hours darkness i believe that anything more that 24 hours is just over kill and is the point of diminishing returns.

then i makesure all the lights and everything is in complete darkness as i chop the plants down for harvesting (when a plant goes in its dark cycle it pulls all the nutes from the uppper parts of the plants and stores themin its roots) so as soon as the plant see'slight it will start to pull the nutes fromthe sub-terrainian partsof the plant to the upper (visible ) partsofthe plant, I.E.-the leaves stemsand buds.

so i chop in compplete darkness, i literally work the harvestlikea blind man by feeling where the plants are and cutting wtih a small pair of bolt cutters.

then the common light manicuring of major leaves and some larger bud leaes. and then hang dry at 55% rh for 10-14 days, then they get jarred up and burped for a week or 10 days (jars open for 10 minutes 3X a day for ten days) then they are right. [Mod note: Per Posting Guidelines:

i set aside what im goingto keep formy self and let em jar cure for a month at least.

nowthe last part might be hardif you didnt have a"bumper harves" last run, where you are still smoking the last runs buds while the newest batch cures.

if not it is perfectly exceptable to smokethem after the 10 day burping period.

you just might not get all the complex flavors and coloring thatthe buds would if letto cure for 4 week sor more.

i never believed in the month or more curing thing before, till i decided to let an ounce of wappa sit in the jar for 3 months, man what a totally different smoke and flavor thant he 10 day burped buds. now i swear by MY smoke sitting thatlong
