Streching and are still small
permalink

i had about 6 seeds germ 18 days ago and they probily sprouted in 4, so my 2 week olds plants are still 3 or 4 inches tall. thier are 4 pots, 2 pots each have 2 sprouts in them. 1 plant is short and expanding out and doing great but one plant (has its own pot) is streching like hell. i keep putting dirt around the stem but i can only do put so much. 2 plants that are in the same pot stopped competing for light and i think thier stable. but overall the plants seem too small (not refering to stretching), the largest leaves are barely a inch. why are they so small? My last grow was alot bigger at 2 weeks, different strains maybe? i stopped watering every day 6 days ago and im watering every 3 now.

i know why thier stretching and how to fix it so please no comments there.
Im srry for no pictures but i cant find the damn camera connector.

First of all, you want each plant in it's own separate pot. That way their roots will not become intertwined & compete fot ferts. Also, culling out males is a lot easier.

Secondly, I wouldn't worry about your seedlings being so small. I have some that age that are even smaller. Yours sound normal.

Since you know what to do about stretching, just be sure to keep that light close.

Blue is right on all that plus, the above will make more of a difference if you wait til they actually need that water . Depending on the pot size seedlings can take some time to need a drink. I start my seeds in moistened soil in a solo cup and typically do not need to water for 6-8 days. Even at 6" of plant in a solo cup, still only watering every 3-4 days.

thanks ill cut down on watering even more. i had 4 seeds that germed and i put 2 seeds that i thought wouldnt germ in 2 pots that already had 1 in it. It was for the hell of it but it turned out to be a mistake because they must have germed next day(dam my patients). I would try and seperate them but im scared that the shock would kill them and leave me with 2-4 plants. I dont want to risk it.

Its cool man, get them separated soon before the roots become real entangled. Minimize the shock as much as possible. Remove as much of the loose dirt to see how bad they are tangled. If you're lucky they've gone their own ways and not tangled much. If not they'll be pretty well wrapped, you may want to dip the root ball in water to help them let go of each other with little to no damage.

One of my plants wilted its leaves yesterday so i moved the light farther away from it and watered it and sprayed it. the leaves sprang up this morning but the ends are curly and a little hint of brown and yellow.

is this nute burn or did it just get to close to the light?

U would like them in 2 different pots before the roots are not twisted together (a moist soil will help)... otherwise u will shock em and they won't like it.

if they use all the energy into stretching the leaves will be smaller.

watering when soil is soil is dry and the leaves are barely curving down helps the oxygen delivery to roots and u avoid rotting.

Other then that... "light em up" and good luck with your ladies :mj:

That makes alot of sense, thanks. Im worried about the curling leaves on the plant though, the tips are a little brown and i want to stop the problem before it gets serious. It might be nothing and Im probily getting too worried.

as for the lights ive added another lamp, should help. The 6 plants have a heat lamp 8 inches above them and a cfl bulb a inch away and another 4 inches away on the sides.

3 x Fluorescent 18W Cool and Warm White works fine and they can get as close to 1 inch due to low heat. And Low wattage. Light and water is all they need

Keep it up

I left for 3 days and kept the heat lamp and 2 cfls on my plants and when i came back they were shrivled to hell and 1 died and i think another will follow. i turned off the heat lamp and watered and sprayed them and they somewhat came back to life. they look like S*** right now, some leaves arent drooping and they look frail. is there anything i can do too save them?
