I'm planning ahead and need some suggestions for my grow. As of now I have 4 Phatt Fruities and 5 Blue-Cheesies growing from seed. They were not feminized seeds. I want to keep the strongest females of each strain as mothers, clone them out, and then flower a mixed batch of both strains for varieties sake. What is the best way to proceed? Assuming I have 5-6 strong sex-undetermined plants thrive, how do I go about sexing before I flower and how do I chose which plants to scrap and which to continue and clone. I could also flower the sub-par plants while I wait for the mothers to bush out before taking clones, no? This would allow me a trial run through the flower cab before using the stronger clones, but still doesnt help me with sexing the plants before I put them into flower... I know I could clone ALL the plants, then sex some small clones in the flower cab and then go back to the parents and kill of whatever was male, but that seems like a lot of work. What would you do here? Thanks!

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Love that book. ..no wonder why its in my signature. In my veg room I use t5's with grow bulbs on the side and a 400w MH and also a 400w HPS right next to it. Generally I go with adding some mid or high P nutes about 1/2 way though my desired veg. I would say about 60% sex and if not I kick up the P to full nutes a week before take'n to bloom. Any remaining unsexed plants usually show by 2 weeks in bloom. I find that some strains cant be cloned (many if not all auto flowers cant be cloned (at this time maybe genetics can change that in time?)), while other strains can be grown early in flower with other types able to be cloned way into flower. Just my from experience and from what I have read. I advise a good grow book as a 1st resource.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | My advice is to top the plants as soon as they have 7 nodes. Then root the tops and stick them in your flowering cab. The ones that are male, you take out and the mothers of them. After about 2 weeks from the initial top, you take every clone you can. Root them and put them in flower....as your original tops finish, you smoke them (after drying and curing) The one with the most qualities you like, you make the mother of it your mother plant. Hint: You may have to wait until the second batch of clones finishes to decide. Picking a mother is a tough, stoney process.....but well worth it. Swap

![]() and in case you have no idea how to clone yet, just cover one brunch of your plant 12 hrs a day with a paper bag for a week or so, and you'll know what sex they're. ![]()

![]() ![]() | I like the idea of topping the plants when they hit node 7 and cloning the tops. As is is now, I don't want the mothers to get too tall, and this will allow some time for them to fill out versus grow upward. Additionally, it will give me a round to practice cloning before I go big with a full round in the flower room. Lastly, it will allow me to iron out the kinks in my flower cab, which is a work in progress (still trying to work out some venting issues)... Shit, maybe I'll get lucky and have a high percentage of females and get a good first round in.. Thanks for the advice, and feel free to offer more!
