Humidity and Sprout time for seedlings
permalink

SO I just planted my germed seeds yesterday, and I'm wondering how long should I expect to wait before anything sprouts?

Also, while the temp was at 22 degrees, humidity was only at 20% (I'm guessing this is due to the fact that it's been quite cold recently and I have air coming in directly from outside).

What should my humidity be at? What's the best method for raising humidity that you guys have found? Open bucket of water?

But did it bring him happiness, even through his grief? Oh yes it did, my compliments to the 7 Pointed Leaf.

Already germinated sprouts should rise very quickly...no more than a couple of days.

At just 20% humidity, common methods such as standing water, towels etc are only marginally going to raise humidity and will quickly dry up.

Try to use some large zip-lock bags with holes, soda bottles cut in half (also with holes), or anything else you can think of. Be careful not to let things get to damp or funky though.

Thanks Komet! Glad to hear I should see something pop soon.

Not sure what you mean about the Zip-lock bags, can you elaborate on this a bit. Bags with holes?

LOL, yes, I understand what a bag is. But what am I supposed to DO with it??? I obviously don't just throw a bunch of bags with holes in the grow room! First time grower here, be patient with my stoopid self.

Put it over the plant to create a little humidity dome. Make sure it has holes for ventilation as komet mentioned so you don't suffocate them.

Basically anything you can put over the top of the plants to hold some moisture in to create a mini greenhouse should work.

Good morning,

The "Cut the 1 liter pop bottles bottom off" leaving 3/4 of the upper bottle to set over a plants container or over just the plant if the container is too large and leave the cap loosely screwed on as to regulate the loss of moisture (the cap is the vent hole) you shouldn't have to poke holes in the top of the bottle. To close the vent tighten the cap, if too much moisture is seen in the bottle unscrew the cap some or remove it altogether.

Good luck, have a Great day and you should see new sprouts in a day or so

We are flying now, 5 have sprouted (a couple are up to 2" already!) and 2 more are starting to pop (I put the bags on these two, took them off the rest).

Currently just spritzing them with pH balanced water and a pH drip going to the bottom of the rockwool. Should I be adding any nutes or anything to the spritz? A few of the leafs are starting to curl down (Or maybe still trying to grow?)
