Seen this b4? New growth on dying fan leaves stems
permalink

Hi everyone,

I was doing some trimming of fan leaves from my God Bud (about week 7 of flower) and I noticed new growth on the stems of some of the dying fan leaves. I have never seen this before.

What made this interesting to me, was that normally I expect the larger fan leaves to give up their last nutes, fade to yellow, and then fall off. These leaves had no interest in falling off, they contained new growth! I have never seen this before.

Does anyone have any comments?

Thanks.

Hey G1ithc,

Thanks for stopping by. Yeah, its pretty weird, at least for me. I've never seen such a thing before. The new growth is very fresh and vibrant. I've attached two more "zoomed" shots and used a bit of contrast and sharpen to show what's going on. As near as I can see, its like a new fan leaf was about to grow out of the old stem.

Now I am sorry I cut them. It would have been interesting to see what developed. Bad smokey. But they were pretty big leaves, looking dead, and blocking the light to a lot of growing flowers. I'm going to let the rest of the fan leaves develop as they like. After all, my main interest this time is getting seeds.

Hey ST,

I don't know what a blueberry plant looks like, but the few images I scrounged on the internet didn't seem to look like this plant. The flowers are mostly still green, except for the top.

I got these seeds from BC Depot direct and they did say GB on the package. And the little bit of it I have tried didn't taste or smell like a blueberry, though it did have a hint of sweetness.

So, what happened with the growth on your plants? What did they end up becoming?

Peace.

Just tiny leaves like yours. I thought it would continue, but it grew out of it. It would only grow one or two sets on. I didnt get any to form an actual branch. Mine did it durring its younger days though. At least thats when I first noticed it.

Hey S-T,

Thanks for the info. I will keep an eye on the remaining leaves and see what, if anything develops.

Hey Tampa,

I don't really know if anything more will grow. According to what happened to S-T I shouldn't expect anything more, but I am going to wait and see.

Hey Bob,

The same thing is happening on a couple of other leaves, so I am going to watch them closely and see what else happens. Of course, I only have about 2 weeks left to go on the plant (I could probably chop now but I'd like to give the seeds an extra week or so to mature).

Hey Sso,

I think reveging is a great idea, but my problem is that I can't fit a 3 gal container into my veg cab! What I will probably have to do is let it veg under the 400 HPS bulb in my bloom closet, maybe with a couple of T5s added to try and balance the light a bit.

I also have some AK-47 clones that are going to want to bloom pretty soon too.,

These are the sort of problems I rather enjoy!

Peace.
