I went to check on my girls this morning, which are 3 weeks into flowering, and i realized i left a small light on all night! This obviously means they missed their rt hours of darkness-should i be concerned? Also, what should I look for if anything? Thanks everyone

I wouldn't really worry about it. Accidents happen. Just don't make it a habit.

I do it at least once a month. I forget to go downstairs on occasion to close the door between the rooms. No problems with hermies appeared as a result of my inattention to details.

Good morning,

I don't think it would effect anything if a light was already on during the dark cycle, its when the light is "Switched" on during the dark cycle when problems arise.
If you were going to say leave a nightlight on during the dark time in case you'd need to get into your room for anything other than to check on the grow I believe as long as it is consistent as in that light would be on all the time it wouldn't pose a problem as it is there all the time.
Of course we all know absolute darkness is the ideal.. As mentioned above, just don't make a habit of it or you may become an unintentional grandfather

Good luck and Happy growing

Thanks evryone for helping ease my mind. Now another problem...I just hooked up a second 600w HPS lamp, and for some reason they both just turn off unexplainably!! I have them both plugged into a power strip and that is plugged into a timer. The timer takes up to 1750 watss and 15 amps, so thats not the problem. Im thinking about just plugging the lamps straight into the timer, dont know what the problem is, but hopefully someone out there could help!!!!! Thanks

Salutations,

If I ran "high" energy lighting (which I don't) i'd most definitely run each lighting unit on it's own timer even though the said timers label said it'll handle a certain amount of wattage I wouldn't trust it for safety reasons.
I'm sure when the bulb first fires it draws a considerable amount of power way more then what run time might be.. It could be that both lamps are drawing to much wattage when first fired that they aren't recieving enough power to each one so they both fail.
I'd most definitely try one at a time or buy a separate timer for your other light.
Also, since your running on a power strip, I assume your running both lights on the same circuit.. Check your breakers to make sure they can handlle the load your asking of it..
Just a few ideas and my on running everything on one circuit or on one timer

Good luck

Maybe you need a contactor

A must when using timers

A major problem with hydroponic lighting is timer failure. The reason for this can be attributed to the fact that household timers are simply not designed to handle the necessary power loads. So what's the solution? One of our contactors! By using your timer to switch a contactor on and off, it in turn switches your lights on and off (comfortably dealing with the power whilst doing so). There is no wiring to do with any of our contactors - you just plug and grow. Manufactured to an exceptionally high standard, these contactors are quality products that will easily stand up to the demands of a busy grow room.

The One Light Timer Contactor can handle 1 x 250/400/600/1000 Watt light. The Two Light Timer Contactor can handle 2 x 250/400/600 Watt lights or 1 x 1000 Watt light. The Four Light Timer Contactor can handle 4 x 250/400 Watt lights, 3 x 600 Watt lights or 2 x 1000 Watt lights
From here

Hope this helps...

Are you sure it is a "power strip" and not a surge protector? How long are the lights on before they turn off?
