permalink

If i gave them a week or two of sumthign like 16 horus on 8 horus off could i get slight pistils and balls without letting them go entirely into flowerign delaying growth?

I dont want to wait as long as it will take to cloen and sex the clones but I also dont want to delay growth.

you need minimum 12 hrs darkness to trigger the flowering response. You could keep the two plants vegging, make a cut from each and root them under 12/12. They should show within a week or so. That's about as fast as you can sex a plant.

What do you plan to do with the original two?

Hi,

Thanks for your response.

Thats not correct, pistils can show during 24 hours of light after vegging for a while. I was wondering if 8 horus of dark could help make pisitils show yet not enter full fledged flowering.

I specifically said I dont want to wait for it to clone, cloning can take two weeks to root and on top of that the time to show pistils...

I've heard that 16/8 or 17/7 can coax preflowers out on strains prone to do so.

Some strains, however, require 12/12 before they show you whats up.

I've always had luck presexing a plant that had any indica in it (results may not be typical).

The only plant I grew that never showed preflowers at all was from a pack of something called 'thunk', which is heavily land race sativa.

all the plants i've grown from seed show preflowers after roughly one month of growth from sprout in 18/6 lighting without needing to be switched to flower

I always recognize the female preflowers immediately without doubt (even when they haven't spit out the pistils just yet), and always get confused when i see males thinking "It could still be female maybe, maybe tomorrow it'll have a hair!"

I have a blue hash growing and in my journal I took a picture of the first sign of female which appeared around the month mark. I used 18/6 which I was told helps develop the sex faster. I dunno if it actually works, But I assume it is cos I know of a lot of plants that flower during the night time.

a friend of mine is in this postion. she has limited time left until she moves and is considering sending the whole plant into 12/12 after 5 weeks from seed in a soil setup. i have told her that the normal way would to clone but that would be an extra 2 weeks ontop of her idea. what are the down sides of sending a mother into 2 weeks of flowering before she is cloned?
Also, you had mentioned in a post that you can send a clone into 12/12 right after the cut and get a sex within a week or so... how well does this normally work? is there any type of system you found that worked better for this sexing like ebb and flow or aero? thank you for your time and future responce.
