SmokingForLife is starting to vegetate.

Sso: Thanks, I will let the temps at root level drop into the 60s and hopefully this will bring down the canopy level temps too. It is starting to stay cool during the day now so the temps should be going down in the room as well since I am using outside air for ventilation.

Bonesoff: I am maxed out on the fans in this area, the circulation is good, just need to get the ambient temps down now.

GreenDragon: I wanted to have hps by now, but just could not afford it. This is my first grow so I can't go all out, only necessities. Since I already had the 6 T5HOs for veg, I just added 4 strip lights to get the 10 sqft space up to 5000 lumens/sqft for the flower. Next year I will get the hps once I have the methods down.

Thanks for everyone's help!

Heat or Light Intensity - Which is most important for good bud formation

Light. Plants can grow well under a wide range of temps, but one thing the plant needs is light.

Standard growing conditions typically include concentrations of CO2 at 300-500 ppm, temperatures between 65-80F, and relatively low humidity (20-40% RH). Studies have shown optimal growth and yields at 90-95F, 1,500 ppm CO2, 45-50% relative humidity, 7,500-10,000 lumens/square foot of light.

I have never noticed any reduction on yield by putting my T5s 10-15cm apart instead of 5cm or less.

You dont lose any light (lm) for putting the tubes a little more apart, except for the increased reflection on side walls. But when we talk about 2" higher or lower, the difference is minimal. What drops a little is lux, the light density at leaves. But it happen mainly when using a single point of light (HIDs), and way less when using fluorescents. If you measure it, you will notice that the light density at canopy varies very little when you raise the tubes 2".

And it will help with temperature, and posible bud or leaf burns when you go out for same days and the plants reach the tubes. In my personal experience, it dont worth to put T5s too close to plants. Indeed, if you put them at 10cm (4") instead of 5cm (2"), probably you will notice an improvement, due the lower temp. Anyway, as far as the temps at top of the plants are below 90F, its good. Of course, better if you can keep them at 80-85F. Cannabis is a plant that can manage high temps very well. Indeed, it grows better at higher temps than most plants, but there is a point where past that temperature, buds becomes fluffy. But its usually high temps, over 90F, what are a problem.

As far as the roots are cool enough, aerial parts of the plant grow perfect at 85F.
