| Hello! I wasn't sure if this message should go in the SEEDS/GERMINATION form or not, but i decided to post here because the seed I am talking about has already started germinating, and is entering vegatative growth. But you see, the problem is this. It's stuck somewhere in between, and this isn't the first time i've seen this happen. I placed several seeds in a container with Brita (filtered) water, and after 2-3 days some of them cracked open, and the one i am talking about cracked open and started to develop a very small root. This was over a week ago, and I got impatient, so i checked on them today by uncovering the soil ontop of the seed (oh yeah, i planted the sprout, duh) and it appeared to be the same as it was last week. Could someone tell me what could be happening here? I don't think it's root rot which just stopped the seed from growing any more because it's a whitish colour which from experience is normal. So i am totally stumpted! ![]() -Thanks, and remember HERB IS HOPE NOT DOPE! | ||

| Hey. I just plopped the seed in the soil, but I'll turn the seed around after I logoff the computer! I have two seeds like this. Do you, or anyone else know of any good fertilizers that will promote seed germination? And i have one more question. Okay I have this ferilizter that is a root stimulant, i beleive it's mostly used for transplanting, and big plants, but will this help me out at all to get my plant going? Thanks! | ||

![]() | ryan666... I wouldn't use ferts for now, your germinated seeds are still very gentle... Wait till they're 2/3 weeks out of the soil, it works well for a lot of people! Wolfman

![]() | A 24 hour soaking in some gibberellic acid is known to help stubborn seeds germinate faster...GA3 is kinda hard to get a hold of though. This place has some. Sometimes takes a while to get here from England. The Warloc

| If i were you, I would just take the seed and point the white root downward. Don't bother with fertilizers. If your just beginning, then it will be a waste of your time. Not to say it won't work, but try to let nature take it's course fully before you totally intervien. If your seed doesn't grow on its own, it won't be worth bothering with. Just learn from your mistakes. Thats my advise GOOD STUFF ![]() [This message has been edited by I_LOVE_BUD (edited May 18, 2000).] | ||

| hello all! once again, thanx alot for everything! i am taking everyone's suggestions to heart. i was browsing through some of the different forums and read a message from someone (can't remember who) on a good way to germinate. I modified it a bit, but hopefully it will work. I took out all of the seeds i had planted in the soil (even the one that has cracked open and started to grow a tad bit) and dropped them into filtered water that was at a temperature slightly above room temp. then i but saran wrap on top of the container and then coverered the saran wrap with some navy blue cloth (i couldn't find any black scrap cloth, close enough though). i then hid the container in my drop ceiling in my basement, right beside a vent. at the time i thought this would be good because it would provide some heat, but then realized (duh!) that it's summer almost and the air conditioner's on, so i will put the container either outdoors, or on a window ledge. does any of this sound like there may be a problem? once again, thanx and any help is definatly appreciated!
