![]() | I used a strategy someone posted here...and that's tying down your highest branch.....as the shoots kept coming up I kept tying down....it helps the lower branches get some light and fill out a more horizontal plant. Topping IMO adds alot of stress to the plant and effects overall quality.

![]() | Poopdinger: How short can I keep You start your plants from seed at 12/12 lighting, under floro and hps, (either/or/both), and then just let them grow...mine started flowering at about 4-5 inches...it depends upon the plant..it starts as soon as it is ready, and my last batch (started with 12/12) had 75% females, no hermies(23 out of 32)..not a bad ratio..then they will stretch depending how good your lights are... i really like starting them this way..if i want them bigger, i can always put it back into veg, and i get to sort out all the males early and save space...good luck..heres one of my babies at only 9" tall..

![]() | So if I start 12/12 from seed I would get a lower yeild than if I started 24/0 for like a couple weeks then switched to 12/12. Just wondering..I'm still limited on space I just want to expand my knowledge of whats goin on. thanks ![]()

![]() ![]() | Starting a seed on 12/12? Thats one lousy way to introduce yourself to growing weed. I just dont get this obsession with flowering a plant with little or no vegetative growth. A little work will give you a short plant that is fully mature. YOur doing yourself and your grow a disservice by not allowing your plant to mature vegetativly. Good luck Smokin

![]() | smokinrav: I agree, 12/12 is not ideal, except you can identify males early before they take up too much space and effort...but most people believe a lot of little plants will yield more than one fully developed plant for the space they have available...I have tried on MANY occassions to find out how much a single plant is capable of yielding, and the common reponse is 'it depends'... yes,,that's true..but it doesn't give anyone any confidence in growing...if I take a risk to grow my own, i don't want all my flowers in one basket, take 3-4 months to grow it, and yield an ounce of smoke... Departing slightly from the thread:....Given an area of 4X4, with a 1000w hps( 20" from plant top), in soil, with average genetics (good bagseed), and tying the plant down to maximize the lights' penetration..and a 12" pot, vegged to a hight of 2 feet, what yield can conservatively be expected from such a plant, assuming no mites, mold, or sudden death of the plant...? Your help with this question may go a long way in helping us beginners to best approach our grow hobby... God knows you produce a S___Load from your plants ![]()

Thanks bud, truth is, one of the first plants I ever grew successfully was from seed and I flowered it at about 4 inches and two weeks old. It grew into a perfect representation of a single cola pot plant in miniature and yielded just over 10 grams, enough to last my current habit about a day and a half later Smokin
