Wink Pistils are turning brown!!!

That's a good thin right? Just kidding

Those who read my first posts a while back will know that my first crop was a disaster having managed to grow 3 males out of 3 plants. Dang was I dissapointed...

Anyhow, I got right back on the horse and started a new grow for 3 plants (3 is all mys space will allow) and my luck turn as two of them turned out to be females... They've be flowering for a month now and I'm happy to report the pistils on my top buds are slowly turning brown!

I do have one question though... The lowerbuds have not shown any sign of browning yet, so should I just cut the top buds and work my way down gradually as they get ready, or should I just rip the plant out of the soil when the top bud is 50 - 60% brown?

Growing your own is fun!! (not to mention a lot less expensive!) []

Definitely let the others mature and cut the ones that are ready.

This was the method Ive used before and kinda read was the best method .. but Delta's sticky thread on harvesting and drying uses the whole plant at once ...

what are the pro's and cons of each?

I guess with the partial harvest you can get each budsite at its individual peak ... and possibly get a larger overall harvest as the plant continues to bud the parts that hadnt received full light? ...

what are the benefits of a full plant harvest/dry?

i would have to say taking the buds as they ripen is better, if you cut it all down and the bottom ones have not matured completely they won't be as potent to smoke and if you leave the top ones on too long after they mature while waiting for the bottom ones to catch up the already matured buds will lose potency. so unless your lucky enough to get the whole plant to mature evenly or you have too many plants to harvest, i would cut off individual buds as they reach peak potency and maturity.

especially with only a few plants you want to get the maximum quality/top potency for each individual bud, since your going to have a limited number of them.
