expected yield?
permalink

Hi, I am attempting my first serious grow (second grow..), with another handful of bagseeds. Here is my setup, I am wondering what kind of total DRY yield i can expect from these crops. I have a 400w HPS w/ hortilux bulb.

I have planted 8 seeds, intending to keep anywhere from 2-6 depending on how i continue my grow box, but am aiming for about 4 full size plants, vegged for 1.5 months 2 months flowering.

These plants seem to grow rather well under indoors, and i am using 24/0 cycle right now.

What kind of yield can i expect if all goes as planned? Any guessed/estimations.... or even expectations of what i SHOULD be able to attain with a 400w bulb and training???

thanks

I am sure that I am not the only one that will say.......I have no freakin clue, and there is no way to tell. Just do your plants right, and they will in turn reward you with a wonderful harvest.

That depends on too many things, ie. how long your gonna veg for, what nutes you use, lights, what strain your growing, hydro or soil, just plant them and look after them and you'll enjoy whatever they give you . good luck and maybe you could tell us when you weigh it. Peace ... Duke

Hempimp, first stop running 24/0 on your HID. This is very unsafe as the HIDs need a rest period. If you choose not to, it will cost you a new lamp. As for yield you will get at least 2 ounces a max of 1lb if you have good genetics.

what is the reasoning for needing a dark period? to let the lamp cool off? i have plenty of ventilation and it never gets over 80degrees...

is the minimum darkness i can run 20/4??

You need to let that hid have a break every day. I run a 1000 watt hps, it gets very hot and could overheat if i didn't give it a break. I keep it on a 18/6 (veg. mode) light diet and my plants are growing great. You could run a 20/4 or even like a 23/1 if you desired. I chose 18/6 due to my set up and other varibiles involved with my grow. Choose what is right for you and your weed.

Peace

I always run my lights 24/0 during veg.
Never lost a ballast yet (got several that are 6--8 years old). And I replace the lights once they lose 15% lumens (about every year). Never had one burn out yet.
Fact: Plants grow 25% faster under 24/0 than 18/6.

Peace out

im with winner. i have a warrantied brand new light and if any problems due arise, even caused by my ignorance, getting the light replaced for free won't be a problem.

i agree 18/6 is not the way to go. respiration is not faster or better than synthesis. as for 25% faster.... with all other variables 'controlled', you are getting exactly 25% more hours of light, but that would be to say that when using 18/6, the plant is not growing AT ALL during darknes...

you dont have to be anti-18/6 to be pro 24/0.

Look, do some searches on here and you will find the reason not to veg 24/0. During that dark period very important things happen to the plant. Check it out.
