![]() | My plant is looking good, but the only problem is that the stem is going at about a 30 degree angle. I am worried that it may fall over, should I prop it up somehow? When it first sprouted it would follow the light so I could adjust it by moving the light, but now it is just growing leaves mostly and seems to be "stuck". I am considering running a string across the pot to put some pressure on the stem so it is straight again. Please respond gurus!! I don't want to F**K up anymore. I think once this is resolved, my baby will take off!! Thanks!!

I guess we need to know how old it is .. if it is young enough you can prop it up straight with something or do the string thing your talking about. If it is older then it should be strong enough to hold the plant up without help .... LB

![]() | It has been growing for about 3 weeks and currently is 4 inches high, about 1 inch across with 2 sets of spikey leaves. There was a transplant shock incident recently (I moved it too soon) so the stem is not as thick as I think it should be. It does seem to be able to suspend itself at that angle, but it is not "following the light" like it used to.

My aunt is a proffesional Horticulturist and I help here a lot, so heres what i picked up from her. Please note it's only about legal flower species, Marigolds, Phlox etc... But one type of annual is not that much different. Anyway, a young plant "follows the light as you put it so that it's leaves are square to the light rays and the maximum light falls on the maximum surface. this gives the young plant a boost. however once it grows larger it has more leaf surface to catch the sun and this maximum light trick is no longer as nessesary as it once was. the plant will be fine, even on an angle, if you wish you can turn it so that it points at the light and has the maximum surface area in use, it will grow faster than if it was facing away, but it shouldn't make much more than very minor difference in the final high of the plant. Hope this helps.

![]() | Marijuana is extremely phototropic and will grow towards the light at all stages of life. It will also support itself, like if at an angle, like yours. The plant will grow xylem(wood) unevenly in order to support the change in direction. You are fine, if you want to train it, go nuts, but don't worry about the plant on it's own, they have been growing for longer than we have been on this earth. They know how to do it, and they will be fine, especially if it is only four inches tall. ![]()
