![]() | I've got another question I need answered... Have any of you any experience with flowering with metal halide lamps? The reason I ask is because the ballasts that go with my equipment are strictly MH, meaning I have to purchase the MH to HPS conversion bulbs... They're $100 each... I was just wondering if it was going to be absolutley neccessary to get the conversion lamps? Will MH's produce thick, dense buds? Or is that what the HPS is infamous for?

![]() I am currently on my 4th grow using an mh. You will get tighter denser buds than growing with fluo's, but not nearly as good as an hps. Good growing, Plains

Flouros work well, metal halides are best for vegetaive growth, and HPS's are best for flowering. In conjuction, when they are all combined and used during the proper cycling, you will get an almost unbelievable harvest. You see, it's all in the color spectrum and intensity of the light. Now if you were to spend the money it would be most rewarding if you could use both lights together; but.......is it worth it? Peace--><~SP~>

![]() | I thought about that as well... Just forking over the $100 for just one MH - HPS conversion bulb, and continue using one of my MH's, and just rotate the plants around every so often to get the mixed spectrum effect. I'm using (2) 400MH's right now, and I just didn't want to buy (2) more MH - HPS conversion bulbs for the flowering... I think sacrificing the $100 is worth it eh?

![]() | Hey! Now that's what I'm talking about. That way you get to save yourself $100. That makes you happy, your plants happy, and it just works its way round. That would be the option I'd possibly do myself if I was in a similar situation. See, now thats using your head.Peace--><~SP~>

![]() | I agree, thats the way to go.. You will then have a full spectrum grow room which is better than anything else IMO. I believe plants want the full spectrum, its more natural. What you could do, is save up and get a light rotator. then you wouldn't have to move the plants. Also, I don't think you should spend 100 bucks on a conversion bulb. I know a few places to get cheap conversion bulbs. Ebay being one of the cheapest. PM me if you want me to find where I bought mine from. (I paid 40 bucks) GK

![]() | You know where to find the MH - HPS 400 coversion bulbs for less than $100 eh? Yeah, I'll take you up on that offer of a lesser price... Do me a favor, and let me know where I could find that buddy... I got the $100 from the 'ol Worm's Way catalog. There's a local shop here in town, so that's where I was planning on getting the item of interest... Where do I find a cheaper one?
