when to Flower when one has a small grow space

My grow space is 27 inches high. My plants are about 7 inches now? When should I start to put them on 12/12? I don't want to end up having the plant growing too tall and not finishing its job How much will the plants grow after switching to 12/12 until they are ready to harvest?
Thanks

Rule of Thumb

Plants will stretch 2-3 times their height from the time they enter 12/12. Not always the case but a good rule. With your height restriction it will be close to moving it to 12/12. Has it shown alternating nodes?

If so change the light to 12/12 and grow on.

Thanks for the reply.
I already asked this in another thread but didn't get an answer
What do you mean alternating nodes? Is there any link you know where it has some pics?

Ok I just found out what it is.
I've got a few alternate nodes starting on one plant.
Actually, I'll be sure when I get home. I can't visualize them correctly now hehe

Alternating nodes refer to the arrangement of the branches along the stem of the plant. If the stem is the exclamation points and the lines are branches alternating nodes look like this:

___!
!___
___!
!___
___!

Alternating nodes indicate the plant is mature.

Now your next lesson is to find the search button at the top of each page and type in Alternating Nodes. Find the Grow Guide and read that too.

No more spoon feeding for you

Welcome to HC.com. I neglected my manners.

Hmmm... that's not the way the diagram looked on the screen when I typed it up and I tried editing to align the exclamation points but not working. So now if you are REALLY confused read some more.

Nice simple pics
Ok, so I went home and checked out the plants. One of them is now about 8" tall and starting to have alternate nodes at the top, like 2 or 3.

Thanks for the last spoon feeding hehe
