![]() | I have two females that were about 4 months old when I started flowering. Within a day or two after changing to a 12/12 light cycle, I noticed several pistils growing on each. So far everything has looked good, the colas are getting big and fat and the secondary growth is looking good too. They are in the middle of thier 4th week of flowering and although the buds aren't full size yet, some of the pistils are turning brown already. Does this mean they are maturing at a faster rate or is there something else going on? Thanks in advance for your help ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | That should be no cause for concern. Pistils will start to brown selectively about the 4th week of flower. Usually around 3rd week is when they are bright white and fluffy. Get some sort of a microscope or hand lens or jeweler's loupe so that you will be able to check the trichomes as they develop. The trichomes will give you a sure indication of ripeness. They will turn from clear to cloudy and finally to amber. You can harvest anytime you like but when the trichomes begin to turn cloudy is the beginning of the ripening process. Judging by pistil color is guesswork. buzzmobile ![]()

![]() | Thanks Buzzmobile, I was really starting to think the the buds had quit growing and that the plants were dying even though the fan leaves are a deep healthy shade of green. Thanks again for the help. ![]()
