Heres a quote from another site regarding lighting, can someone tell me if the underlined portion is true?

"Cannabis grows into a fully formed bush when it receives a minimum of five hours of sunlight a day. But you can grow good-sized plants of excellent quality with as little as two hours of daily sunlight provided windows are unobstructed by building or trees and allow full daylight"

Heres a pic of one of my plants at about 2 months growing on my deck only getting 2-4 hours of sunlight each day, if that. I decided to clon (well just cut the top off of it since there was no side growth) And it looks just as afterburner was describing. I took the cutting above the first set of real leaves, taking off about 4" of stem, but thats all that plant grew in 2 months, since it rooted, it is already twice as big and flowering

"Most cannabis plants can be kept alive for up to 12 years by simply keeping a light on the plant at all times. Even if the plant only receives light for a few hours a day it can still live for a long time. It all depends on how the plant is treated. These plants will grow to a certain height and then form into a bush. Eventually they will stop producing branches and will spend the rest of their lives growing new leaves to replace the old ones." -- Greg Green from The Cannabis Grow Bible -- The Definitive Guide to Growing Marijuana for Recreational and Medical Use

As far as growing "good sized plants of excellent quality," I don't think so. Not unless they are referring to maintaining a mother plant ... even then, the quote above states the plant can stay alive for a long time ... it doesn't say it will be a good plant.

its called SOG. and, yes its been done and you could do it with a seed. The only real catch here, is you need to be working with a quality strain, because you cant just throw a bunch of seeds of different strans and expect them all to do the same thing. Flowering from seed yeilds small plants, BUT if you could imagine a bunch of them together then you would effectively be utilizing the SOG technique. This isnt the forum or the place for such discussion, if you want to know more abt SOG or flowering early in general, in the library,we have compiled from an excellent archive of posts which span many years.

I'd venture to guess that a small, immature plant from seed grown under 2-4 hours of light would probably not even flower.

Ok, but what if it wasnt grown from seed on 3-4 hrs of light. Rather, grown on a 24-0 schedule for veg and then put in a location to flower which only will receive 4-5 hrs of light? Im sure it would be better than a plant grown from start to finish with such low light levels.

See, im asking this because im wondering if one of my plants will be getting enough light during her flowering. I put her in a real "Down-Low" location in my yard, and shes only getting sun from like 1 pm to 5 something. So instead of diggin her up i was wondering if i could just keep her there. Im sure 4 hrs is enough sun time, considering she gets indirect sun for lots of hours as well. i have plants that are in full sun that are TWICE as big as some that are in partial shade, so i know light will affect veg size, but wasnt too sure bout flowering.

I think what that quote ment was that if you place your plant outside where it only gets 2-5 hours of direct sunlight, it will be fine as long as it has INdirect sunlight for the remainder of the day... thats my take.
