Question trimming leaves for better flowering
permalink

Hi, I have two plants that are around the 4th week of flowering. I have them growing outdoors. I've heard that if you trim some of the leaves off the plant that it helps the buds get more light and grow better. Is this true? or will trimming do more harm than good to the plant? This is my first grow so its all brand new to me.

Im also giving them 10-52-10 ferts once a week. Is this a good amount? or should I be giving more/less?

The buds are looking good a little small i think, but what do I know.. one plant has a crazy amount of crystals all over the buds and some leaves... the other one not so much, i'll post some pics within the next few days

thanks alot for any help or advice!!

i dont know about the trimming, but as for the ferts, u should have gone with a brand with a higher k and less N. good luck, let us know how it turns out

Personally I never trim the plants when they are budding, they only have to put effort into healing when they should be budding, the only leaves I remove are the brown ones...

About the ferts... The NPK ratio your looking for during flowering is 1-2-2 or 2-5-5, you want a higher PK but less nitrogen.

trimming takes alittle experience...and usually only applied below the canopy...such as branching that will never amount to much anyway...(popcorn buds)..but rarely is it beneficial to trim any (healthy) large sunleaves...tucking them is a better solution...imho

I would'nt chop fan leaves no matter what. Nor would I recommend giving them 10-52-10 while flowering.

It depends on how often you should feed them imo. I start off light then see how my plants react, then go from there.
