How tall will they get?!?!
permalink

Well I am exactly two weeks into flowering my first grow. I started from bag seed and was able to sprout about ten plants. But after a bout with mold and then another with a snacking cat when they were about 2-3 inches tall, I have been left with 3. Somehow I was fortunate enough for all 3 to be girls.

I don't have the exact measurements for my grow room but I am using a walk-in closet that is about 7' x 8'. I did not realize how much the plants would stretch after I started the 12/12 cycle. Now I have one plant that is about 5 and a half feet tall and I am running out of my room because I can't raise my light much higher. The only thing I can think of is two tie down the top so that it is bent over and not growing into the hot lens of my lamp. Will this work? Any other ideas?

A couple more questions...any idea what strain I have here?...what kind of yield should I expect?

Thanks for all your help everyone!

First of all I would like to say how nice your plants look! Good Job.

Move them to another room... ehh I don't think you are going to find a room with a higher ceiling, unless you put it in the living room but then you will have security issues.

You might want to tie them down, but I am not sure. A possible solution would be to move your light from the right side there (right above the plants) to the left(to the side of the plant), and then angle the light to face them.

Whatever you end up doing I hope you end up with a successfull harvest.

good luck

Lightbulb same problem on first grow
permalink

Hello and welcome to HC.com

Had the same problem recently on my first grow. I know it is a little late to start some LST{Low Stress Training} but short of cutting off the top I did not know what to do. So I went to my tackel box and got out some fishing weights, fishing line {string} and some paper clips.

Open up the paper clips to form a hook on both ends, tie the string to the paper clip and the other end of the string {10 to 12 inches} to the weight. I needed 4 of these to start and ended up using 7 total.

Now hang these along the top of the plant so that it bends over, but supports the weight without breaking. My plant had good stems and I used 4 of these about every 4 to 6 inches to bend over the top third of the plant.

I found these easy to adjust until I found the right balance point with out hurting the plant. I was amazed at what this did for bud growth along the top of this plant.

The tip of the plant kept growing and wanted to go back towards the light, so every couple of days I had to add another weight setup until it ended the stretch period. I left the weights on until the last week of flower then removed them.

This is what I did....Hope it helps, take a look a "my first 4 ladies" in my sig. to see how my yeild turned out.......good luck and let me know if this helps you.

Arrow Strain?
permalink

Hi there me again,

Forgot to answer your other question; strain?
Hard to tell just from pic's but the leaves look pretty narrow which usally indicates some type of sativa and means a longer flowering cycle than 8 weeks.
I grew one sativa for 14 weeks and it probaly could have gone another 2 weeks but I was out of time.

Nice setup on your grow room, looks like you put some thought and homework into it before you began I'm sure you are going to be pleased with the results but here is a little extra your way

2 weeks into flowering soon the stretch should slow down and or stop. If it is a sativa they do usally grow to be very tall, hence a troublesome plant to grow indoors. But they usally produce a nice head high compared to total couchlock.

Thanks guys for the help (and compliments). I think I am gonna have to try the LST and hope for the best. I sure hope I don't have to flower for 14 weeks, I only allowed for 8 at the most! We'll see.
